We visited in late April, expecting the same great food and service that we used to enjoy. Unfortunately, it seems that they’ve had a change in ownership, and I can no longer recommend it. While the food was okay, it was just “okay”… and the service was horrible. We waited 40 minutes after placing your order, and then finally explained that we did have other plans for later in the evening. Our waitress then told us “oh, I’ll have them start your orders”… what the heck were they doing in the meantime?? Water glasses were refilled and returned to different people at the table, other items were put down on top of already used dishes… just really basic things that shouldn’t happen. I’d suggest looking elsewhere for a dinner experience, especially for the price.

I must ditto what a lot of recent reviews are saying that this place has gone downhill after an apparent change of management. The food seemed closer to what you would find at a Denny’s than a German restaurant. The Wiener Schnitzel was greasy, and the wiener was a tiny breakfast sausage like you’d buy frozen at your neighborhood supermarket. Prices were high for what we got. The front door had a couple of STOP WORK orders from the City of New Westminster taped to it – perhaps indicative of management trying to ‘cut corners’.

What a disappointment! They obviously do not know how to cook German food. It took over an hour to get our main course, even though there were only 2 tables occupied. When it finally came, the overall taste was bland, the sauerkraut was just out of the can and heated, the red cabbage looked and tasted like brown mush. German pan fried potatoes are crisp, theirs were just pieces of boiled potatoes swirled around in a pan. The amount of sauce on the schnitzel was about half a spoon full. They brought extra sauce upon our request, and "graciously" comped it. However, they made me pay extra for some sauerkraut because they wouldn't substitute it for red cabbage that came with the meal. The service staff's manners were unpolished to say the least. To make matters worse, two of us ate a shrimp cocktail and ended up getting sick. My friends wanted to do something special for me by taking me to a German restaurant, I feel embarrassed about the horrendous bill they paid only to be so disappointed.

This place has gone Downhill. The schnitzel was 1/3 the size it used to be and the taste has deffinately changed. The thickness was unbelievably thin and one of the 3 dishes was as soft as a hockey puck. I will say though that mine was cooked well abd still tasted pretty good however it was not hot, was room temperature. I did however receive uncooked strained black carrots maybe left over from the day before. I had told the waitress I refused to eat them and didn't want more. However they brought me fresh orange carrots that were cooked perfect and tasted very good. All 3 plates had horrendous carrots.they should of just cooked the fresh ones the 1st time around. Anyways I doubt I will be back for $30 schnitzel again. Not sure what happen to this place.

Service: Friendly, they gave us a free dessert for Easter weekend. Didn’t have the heart to tell them our true impression of the food. Food: Not good! Steak was gross, schnitzel ok, veggies bland. For the price you pay you expect something tasty. I am sure the dessert is sent to them already baked or at least the pastry chef can make tasty treats. We’ve been there in the past and food was good. Don’t know if the management switched or chef quit but it was a regretful choice to take my parents there for dinner. Will be choosing the cultural center in Vancouver in future.

It was casual German dinner, not full but steady patrons.Attentive servers, food was quick, schnitzel is good. Reasonably priced.

This place is great! Atmosphere is so good and the staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good, I was there with my wife and child and on Wednesdays they have 20%off on schnitzels. Just on the right side of our table there was a family celebrating birthday of a 90 year old man ,Restaurant staff really made special efforts to make their birthday special. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I wouldn't say it was a bad experience, but it's ok. The decor and environment is alright, since I'm really here for the food. Portions were mediocre, but the taste is ok. I've had better, I've had worse. For the price, I do not think it is worth. Only 1 other table during weekend night. Ordered a combination dinner and a few appetizers. Took 30 minutes for main entree.
