I have been twice for the "Day of Fishing" experience. Both times I have visited the Franklin Club I have enjoyed myself immensely! The staff are hospitable and the food at the restaurant is awesome! Last but definitely not least, the fishing is non stop and the trout taste great!

My father and I went to the Franklin Club for an early Father’s day with a voucher from the IWFFC. We had a great day. The staff were helpful right from the beginning and showed us the grounds and made us feel at home. Thank you Julie. The tour of the hatchery whet the appetite for a day of fishing. We were the only people to make use of the boats and we felt like we were to only ones on the lake. The fishing is not difficult but it is fun. Keeping in mind that you are fishing a stocked lake you can still have fun and get practice hooking, playing and netting 2-4 lb rainbows. A 5wt. with 4x tippet ensures a good fight without losing too many of the fish when they strike and run. Thank you Jim. We found lunch to be delicious and the service was great. Thank you Grace.

Working at this establishment is similar to working as a slave with very little reward, if at all. The management is disorganized and no room to grow at this place. The staff are treated like peasants by the board of directors and everyone on the board of directors only have their own best interest in mind. Don't support, go here, or work here if you know what's good for you. Consider this a full transparency warning. This place is on its last legs and is like a sinking ship. Only a matter of time before they go under.

I brought a group to the Franklin Club for some team building and a mental health day. The staff were fabulous with us, helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. The property was beautiful and the fishing was great. The fish were delicious as well. The participants all commented that it was the best outing they have ever had, and would definitely come back if they could.

I am a member at the club and have been for eight years nown so I may be a little biased but these are my views. The Franklin Club is a hidden gem and a little piece of heaven only 40 minutes north of Toronto (in good traffic). The fishing (rainbow and speckled trout) is great particularly in the spring and fall when the water is a little cooler and the fish are more active. The two ponds are restricted to fly fishing only but you can spin or bait cast as well a fly fish in Franklin Lake (no barbed hooks allowed anywhere). The clubhouse facilities are good, but remember, this is a private members' fishing club which is more rustic, so don't expect the Ritz. The Club is open by member invitation only or by acquisition of a membership (different categories and prices available). There are great walking trails, three campsites and modest, economic overnight and accommodation. The club's restaurant is open to members and guests Wednesday to Sunday and the varied menus and service are very good. If you have never been to the Club call the Director of Member Relations and ask to get a tour. If you are at all interested in fly fishing, with a little bit of quiet relaxation and friendships thrown in, this may be the place for you,

My husband and I aren't into fishing, but we have a dining membership here because the food and service is amazing, and the menu always features fish from the club's pond as well as awesome weekly chef's specials! A gem of a place that's close to home and has a lot to offer!

I remember the thrill of catching my first fish, a beautiful Rainbow Trout, at the Franklin Club back in 1967. Many thanks to my old friends the Mahoney family. The Club is wonderful.

The Franklin Fishing Club is an amazing spot only 15 minutes from Newmarket. If you're a Trout fisher you won't be disappointed. Emma was a very friendly and efficient server and my lunch was delicious. Especially the home made butternut squash soup. I'm honoured to have been invited as a guest.
