★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Created in 2000, this monument is a tribute the Famous Five: Irene Parlby, Louise McKinney, Nellie McClung, Emily Murphy and Henrietta Muir Edwards, all from Alberta. Until 1929, women were not considered persons under Canadian law. This statue depicts a scene from Canadian history. Here, five exceptional Canadian women who led the fight for legal recognition as persons have just learned that they'd won.
