Yan brings more than 8 years of expertise in advising on corporate decarbonization strategy, carbon trading, offset project development and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technology development and implementation, with a specific emphasis on helping companies reduce their carbon emissions, increase their commitment to sustainability, and address the impacts of climate change. He joined Delphi Group in 2022 as the Director of Climate Change Strategy to drive consulting projects that provide clients across diverse sectors with innovative climate change mitigation strategies. Yan will engage directly with Delphi’s clients to cultivate lasting relationships from the initial project scoping through its successful execution.

Prior to joining Delphi Group, Yan was the Managing Director of Zhongcheng Carbon Asset Management, Co., Ltd (China), where he oversaw a multi-background team in advising clients on ESG, renewable energy, carbon asset management, net-zero carbon emission strategies, and carbon trading. While with Zhongcheng Carbon Asset Management, he led the development of commercially feasible CCUS technologies for the steel manufacturing industry. His role grew out of his earlier work as the Director of the Carbon Asset Department with Sinosteel Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd. (China) and as a Product Manager with Sinosteel Equipment and Design Canada, Inc. (Toronto). Yan also co-founded ACE Econergy, Inc., a renewable energy and research firm based in Toronto.

Yan holds US and China patents in the renewable energy and CO2 capture and utilization fields. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London in the UK and his Bachelor of Applied Physics from Beihang University in China.

Outside of work, Yan can be found playing sports with his wife and two young boys, or fixing up his motorcycle in the garage.
