This place should be a food group of its own! We drove out from Brandon and it was definitely worth the trip. They had just sold out of their special (beef brisket) but had a close second - pulled pork. The generous helping of home cut fries would have filled me up alone, but the pulled pork sandwich just couldn't be left on my plate. We will absolutely be coming out again. If you're not local, he suggests phoning ahead if you're coming out for a late supper, just in case it was a slow evening and he cut the day short.

Always make a point of dropping in here and ordering some food to go when I'm in the area. Always make sure to ask for the specials because damn, they are good! The perogy poutine I had was excellent and their fries are Manitoba potatoes and handmade, you know they'll be good. Keep up the great work Burning Bale!

Newfie Poutine! Battered cod pieces with tartar sauce on top of fries, gravy and curds! It was absolutely delish. ?

Service was friendly and heartfelt "no body goes un hungry here!" Good communication in the kitchen, and seemed happening with people calling to place orders for pick-up. Everyone calling for a legendary burger apparently is the go to for pick-up orders, from the time I was there; must have been 5 or 6 calls for food pick-up. Hours Open were different then google had posted: 1030am - 130pm and 4pm - 630pm Tuesday to Saturday. Clean bathrooms! I was traveling through on a Thursday, and experienced a friendly culture reminder of Elgin's heritage along with an amazing dining room feel. Even during these days with so much going on in the world, it was nice to feel the comfort of home being at the Burning Bale in Elgin. I had the Chicken and Cheese Taco's with the soup of the day, and enjoyed viewing the pictures of what Elgin once was, and felt the warmth of what it still is in the hearts of the folks that live there. The price was cheep for the quantity of food, and flavour that makes you think you've been introduced to the heart of Elgin. You'll have to be your own judge, but even passing through - it was well worth the open hearted welcoming community feel.

Had one of the best pulled pork's that I have ever had today. With a poutine that had gravy so good I had to tell the chef it felt like I was at my moms again. I will absolutely be back again. If this restaurant had a bed, I don't think I'd ever leave, I'd just apply for a job.

Great Cast Iron Burger! Next time I'd ask for extra Hillbilly sauce because it was so tasty (smoked jalapeno tomato sauce, mayo, and de-alcoholized apple pie moonshine and Everclear). The poutine was a generous portion with real cheese curds and homemade fries with the perfect amount of sea salt. Chef Germain and our server were friendly and welcoming. I look forward to returning for the brisket and pulled pork poutine specials! Visiting The Burning Bale was well worth the 45-minute drive from Brandon but, if you're coming from afar, then it's best to call ahead in case they close early!
