About Tall Tines Taxidermy
Chris’ taxidermy journey started in 2016 after nearly a decade in a corporate office. Initially volunteering a half day a week for a local commercial taxidermy company, learning the basics and in an old school way. The three folks responsible for teaching him his skills, tricks, and techniques are grizzled taxidermy veterans with a combined experience of almost 100 years! Being constantly motivated to push the boundaries to the next level, he used these tried and true techniques combined with modern processes to produce superior results. Chris was ultimately offered a position and made the tough decision to walk away from the monotonous office life to a minimum wage apprenticeship. The unfortunate circumstances of Covid-19 led to a drastic change in the commercial lodging and taxidermy industries here locally, and the family operated business was forced to let Chris go. Seizing this opportunity to do his own thing, Chris launched Tall Tines Taxidermy!

We’ve taken quite a few things in to him over the last year, his work has actually outshined a few others that I’ve seen over the years. If you’re looking for tanning, euros or mounts everything I’ve seen in his shop is great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Owner is extremely accommodating and takes great pride in his work which is wonderful. I purchased a deer hide from him which wasn't my own animal, he was super helpful for the whole process and answered all my questions and made pickup super easy.
I also plan on having him mount a number of skulls for me and he has answered a number of my questions and discussed options. Highly recommend!

I have always been a firm believer in using as much of the animals you harvest as possible. It’s hard to find anyone with experience who KNOWS how to properly flesh, preserve, tan, and finish a fur like him. He’s always fast to reply to any questions you might have about proper prep and storage of your trophy prior to bringing it in for preservation - regardless if you bring it to him or another taxidermist. If you have a question, he definitely will have the answer. His years of passion and experience show. I recommend Tall Tines to everyone I know!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chris’s work is nothing short of amazing! I brought him a deer hide to have done up as a rug last fall. When I got the call that my deer was ready I brought my teenage son with me. Not only was my rug amazing! The leather was soft and the fur was so clean and comforting. When we got home my son confiscated my deer to his room. He lays it on his bed at night and puts it on his desk chair while he does his homework. My son tells me I’m never getting the deer back. To me that’s a sign as to how good Chris’s work really is!! Not only his his work superb, Chris took the time to show my son around his shop, all the different animals that Chris is working on some of the different techniques that he has to do to each and every animal to preserve these memories for each harvest. Chris is not only good at what he does, he’s a good person and ambassador for his profession. Keep up the good work Chris! I’ll be bringing my next deer to you and maybe get another rug that I can have for myself next year.
