β β β β β It was a disappointment anything you order you get in less than 5 minutes like pre-made food. Fast food quality the sizzling beef was terrible lots of fat and a ton of onions. The chilli chicken was ok but again more onions. I will not be going again. No great customer service either waitress was only interest in taking the order and getting you out soonest. Sad this restaurant has been there for years but unfortunately the standard is going down and fast!

β β β β β For a chinese restaurant, they have good customer service. We were served by an older guy and he was very patient with our questions.
The food came within 15-20min of ordering. We ordered Szechuan fish, General Tao Chicken, fried rice, fried noodles and bean curd dish. I loved the fish dish the most.
The serving size was large, there were 5 of us and we had to pack 2 boxes of leftovers. For the 5 dishes we ordered, the bill came to $70 with taxes. Really reasonable prices.

Something major has changed at this restaurant
Food quality is not the same
Fried dumplings used to have a lot of meat and very juicy. They are all dried up and hardly any meat.
Prices have gone up and quality has gone down

β β β β β Very good Chinese food restaurant in the Thornhill area. Outside of the great restaurants downtown, this place is at a higher level than the other local restaurants that are similar in Thornhill. The ginger chicken and lemon chicken are great standouts. The ginger sauce I have never tried anything like it in the other restaurants I have been to in and around Toronto. The batter of the lemon chicken and the chicken balls and deep fried shrimp is nice and crispy and pairs well with the fried rice, chicken or pork variety.
Their hot chili oil is exemplary. I use that stuff to flavour my rice there and it goes well with any of their fried fare. A great restaurant if you want some decadent and greasy Chinese food. I would highly recommend eating in house as anything fried is best served as fresh as possible but even when we have gotten them to deliver their food still holds up well.

β β β β β AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!!! .. First time didn't like but wanted to give them another chance. It was the worst Chinese food I ever tasted. Ordered crispy beef with ginger. It was horrible taste , most likely made a day before and that was like chewing a rubber, not sure if there was meat at all. Rather stay hungry than risk to get sick.

β β β β β Wow has this restaurant gone downhill. We used to eat here all the time but last 2 times we ordered it was so bad that we are never going back. We ordered crispy ginger chicken and instead we got soft saggy burned chicken. It was awful and made me feel sick. The curry beef was terrible and tasteless. The staff were nice though. But the food needs some work but we're for sure not eating here ever again.

β β β β β This restaurant used to be amazing. Over the years, I've been more disappointed, and now it's finally over for me. I don't know if the chefs have changed, but the food is very different. The dishes are lacking compared to just a year ago. The food is now very oily with much less flavor. The heat levels are different. The total size of some of the dishes seem to be smaller over the years, and, now, the size of the pieces themselves are smaller, as if the meat was trimmed from the ends of a cut before they were battered and fried, which was very obvious on some beef dishes.
There are so many other restaurants that I haven't tried, and now I think I will try some.

β β β β β do not buy from Szechuan Gourmet.
we have ordered from Szechuan Gourmet for over 15 years. it used to be good.
this week we ordered 2 spicy peanut chicken and I do not believe it was quality chicken. to tell you the truth I dont believe it was even real chicken. or perhaps they are using low quality or scrap chicken. frankly it was disgusting.
they just raised prices so perhaps they also cut the quality of the chicken they buy. it was soft kinda weird. if you told be it was spam i wouldn't be surprised. i could go on but what for; you get the picture.
we called the owner who did not listen and hung up the phone.
i feel they stole from us. this is not the food or treatment you expect for your money. we have eaten their food over 100 times over 15 years.
shame on them.
