★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had the pleasure of partnering with Jordan on a Myseum Intersections funded project where our participants were asked to consider the themes of traditions and transformations, arrivals and departures as they pertain to their family stories of origin and/or settlement in Toronto. Jordan did an excellent job working with participants teaching them how to interview, photograph, and create video shorts of each other. With Jordan's immense talent and experience as as short film instructor we were able to successfully mount a pop-up multimedia exhibit featuring participants’ work as well as provide a unique, interactive community event where our participants' stories were shared and documented, and new connections were forged and nourished. I highly recommend Jordan's services.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am writing to provide reference support comments for Jordan McTavish. I had the honour to work with Jordan in his role as a Back Lane Studios / Film Maker / Staff. He helped me realize my vision of a short doc story that would allow me to communicate a 32 year journey in activism, community development , grass roots program design - in my work with homeless people, psychiatric survivors and others marginalized by poverty and social exclusion.
What I found to be interesting in this project was just how fully Jordan could grasp the the essence of the messages I was seeking to communicate, even though they fell far beyond the limits of his direct experience. I also was struck by his ability to sequence the images, the photos, and make decisions on where the spoken narrative should begin and transition in very, very creative ways. I had the stories. But Jordan helped me to translate them a fully realized documentary / story telling art form
I think that the kind of talent, rich skill sets, love and commitment Jordan has makes his film making art and craft exceptional. And If there is anything I could wish for, in my own documentarian aspirations, it would be- to work with him again. To learn from him again. Because Jordan is a 5 star film maker. My wish for him is to have five star film making opportunities which would benefit our communities and the world
