My name is Jerry Tom, a member of the Sayisi Dene First Nation. Due to the forced relocation of my people from our traditional lands in the 1950’s, I have had to relocate to the urban centres for educational purposes.
I have had the opportunity to work with the Keewation Tribal Council as an elementary and post secondary education counsellor, also for the Island Lake Tribal Council. I have worked with the Province of Manitoba at Manitoba Housing for twenty years. I have also held various positions with the Sayisi Dene First Nation, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak, and the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.
I am currently with Treaty 5 as a Policy Analyst.
