Dr. Amanda Brown

Practice Owner, DVM

On July 1, 2018 Stonewall resident Dr. Amanda Brown became the sole owner of the Stonewall Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Brown began her career at the Stonewall Veterinary Clinic under Dr. Catrysse after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. From there she spent time working at the Winnipeg Humane Society Veterinary clinic while she was starting a family. She returned as a relief vet at the Stonewall Veterinary Clinic in 2012. In 2015 she became a quarter owner, and has found serving her community very rewarding.

Dr. Brown is excited about this new opportunity at the Stonewall Veterinary Hospital. She is committed to continue to strive to offer excellence in pet health and wellness care with the exceptional team here. In addition to offering a Fear Free environment and an Integrative approach to Veterinary medicine, her future goals include bringing further rehabilitation services, palliative care and ultrasound our practice.

She would like to thank all the professionals, clients, friends and family who have helped make this dream a reality.

Dr. Brown and her husband, Winnipeg advanced care paramedic Gavin Broadbent, are bringing up their family in Stonewall. Their two sons attend school here, and are active in both sports and arts programs within the community. They share their home with and assortment of pets, include a geriatric 3-legged chihuahua, a chihuahua adoptee, two cats, ball python, a leopard gecko, and four male guppies.

In addition to Veterinary practice and motherhood, Dr. Brown directs the South Interlake division of the Kids Of Mud, a Manitoba wide mountain bike club for kids age 6-13.

She wishes everyone a safe and happy year for themselves and their pets.

R	Randy G on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I wouldn't take any animal through this vet service. Was told the medicine given to my dog would do no harm. The eye drops provided by the vet blinded my dog. The vet claimed that the eye drops were not the cause of the blindness in my dog. Curious that the day after adding Maxitrol to my dogs eyes that he went blind. My daughter even had a bad experience with Dr Brown as well. If you love your pet, find somewhere else to take them too. Just so people know, I wasn't the one who said the dog can wait. It was there office who said to bring that up with the Dr when I brought him in for his appointment and they would tell the Dr of the situation with his eyes. I have since this incident have taken my dog to more of a competent vet.

They only care about money and when you do not follow her extra expenses unnecessary procedures they become very rude. I told them they were fired and then they sent me a letter that they won’t treat my pet any longer hahaha I also pay over 30% less for the exact same prescription at another vet. UPDATE. Just seen the ridiculous response from the clinic themselves. At the time I transferred my business from this so called clinic my pet did in fact have a current prescription available as it was under 12 months since they had seen him. Also now they apparently are claiming I had yelled and swore at the staff on the phone which is now showing how ridiculous this business is. In fact I called from an office at work with 5 other people there that were not only aware of the nature of the call and how the vet was acting but listened to the entire conversation and would guarantee not a single part of this is true from them. This only strongly shows how disgusting this facility is and to what lengths they will go to secure a profit over care attitude for their customer base. Definitely one of the worst businesses I have ever dealt with anywhere. STAY AWAY from them if you love your pet. One only needs to read all the reviews, there sure are lots that they are trying to defend themselves in with a reoccurring theme. Anyone can get friends to leave a positive review. I suggest the owner take a long hard look at their priorities and business practices.

I've been working closely with Royal Canin and our team at the Ontario Veterinary College, and calling countless veterinary clinics across Ontario with no known ETA. Everyone I had encountered at Stonewall via phone/email had been more than prompt and accommodating to our needs here in Ontario. Thank you so much. A huge stress lifted.
K	Koreen Nadon on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We took our rescue cat to this Clinic this past Saturday after not being able to get into our regular Clinic in a timely fashion. The clinic was clean, open, and inviting. We were greeted and put into a room immediately for our appointment without having to wait at all. The Vet Tech came in and did an initial assessment, and asked us to approve the costs up front prior to the Veterinarian coming in. The Veterinarian was very thorough in their assessment without any hesitation on handling a cat she had never met. Upon completion of our appointment, we were able to pay immediately without having to wait. VERY pleasant experience for us and most importantly, our cat! Costs were quite reasonable for the services provided, and no complaints whatsoever regarding customer service. I get very nervous going to a new clinic, as you never know what to expect. Needless to say, this experience was lovely and we thank Stonewall Veterinary Clinic for that.
V	Val Larkin on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I do not recommend this Veterinarian Clinic. It’s a money grab. Perhaps more excellent in accounting than veterinary services. Too many staff that certainly don’t look like they enjoy the job. Almost 3K spent there. Once you sign those papers for surgery; they gotcha. Wing-ding explanation of charges for some things never received. The cone given st time of surgery for my small dog could fit a Labrador- ridiculous. They said they had none that fit. Well why??? I bought new nice soft cone (that fit) for my dog in recovery. Don’t go to this money motivated veterinarian business.
