In March of 2016 I went to Stereo City with a Teac Reel To Reel for a service as I remember Stereo City many years ago as a reputable audio retailer on Argyll. Thomas said he could as he serviced the UofA music department recorders. I paid the fee for the technician to examine and advise. On June 2nd Thomas called and advised that the recorder was ready for collection. On collection we ran his tape through and the recorder played, I paid. I returned home and found the recorder did not record. I returned the recorder the next day and advised Thomas it was serviced completely. During the next 20 months which involved several store visits and several emails resulted with my collecting the recorder in February 2018 and being told by Thomas that due to no parts it was unrepairable. Two years. I then took the recorder to Sigma Electronics Services and seven days after I dropped it off I had returned to me fully serviced and functioning completely. They had no problems in diagnosing the problem, obtaining the parts and effecting the repair. My experience with Stereo City and with Thomas is very poor. Two years vs Seven days; I know where I will be taking my electronic items for servicing in the future.

I took in a 47-year-old Pioneer stereo amplifier that hadn't worked right in years, and was now virually unusable. In two weeks I got it back, literally sounding like new. I couldn't believe it. I don't know why others have had a poor experience with this place, but I am VERY happy with the work they did for me.

Had a great experience here. Brought them in the amp and drawings for it. They were quite accommodating and repaired it very well. I had a very negative experience with this guy Joe at sigma tech working out of his home in his basement. Screwed it up.

Had my Sansui amplifier repaired by stereo city service. It' s been working flawlessly. Good service and reasonable price. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. He spent 5 mins explaining how the problem might happen in the first place and how to avoid it from happening again when I picked up. Appreciate and highly recommend.

Terrible. By far the worst experience I could have ever had. Fought with them to fix a receiver that was under warranty. When they finally agreed to fix it they said it was fixed and wanted to charge me shipping even though Pioneer said they will pay the shipping. When I finally got it home after 3 months the box was smashed and the front of the receiver was crushed in.

Thomas at Stereo City fixed our mid-century box stereo turn table and as a result we now have a brilliant piece of furniture that is fully functional as a stereo. We were SO EXCITED to get it back and I'm listening to LPs right now! Great service, takes a while though, like all things worth waiting for!

i came to stereo city twice, a few years apart, for two separate items: 1. an in-dash 6CD Bose head unit from my (now 20-year old) honda. -the magazine (6CD mechanism) had failed and the cassette deck had been non-functional for some time. this was in spring 2017 2. my klipsch promedia 5.1 ultra subwoofer/amplifier which had electrical noise issues that ruined the listening experience. these are tricky to fix and typically you send them to a pastor in minnesota who specialises in repairing them. this was around may 2021. in the case of (1), the parts were no longer produced by pioneer so i made it a mission to find thomas the right parts. over one and a half years later i sourced a very-close (but not equivalent) CD magazine from a ford that thomas was able to salvage into a fully operational unit. this work was completed by early 2020 from what i recall. in the case of (2), it was completed by early october 2021. i thought there was an issue so i took it back, but unsurprisingly it was to do with the input (my sound card) and not the repair work. both cases were out-of-warranty and were not cheap (approximately 250 dollars for each job) but i am extremely satisfied with the work. he was also very accommodating when i came in with my subwoofer claiming it wasn't fixed, and by the end of it i left convinced the problem was on my end (it was). ignore the reviews here. if you want something fixed and you are willing to wait, i would recommend going here. my CD deck operates like a brand new unit and is extremely quiet. to say i am thrilled would be an understatement. i suspect a similar trend will continue with the subwoofer. these experiences have left me feeling bold enough to buy a broken A/V stuff to see if he can fix it (provided i can't find something operational).

DO NOT use this business. They are absolute crooks. I described my issue on the phone and was told to bring in my turntable. I Was charged an up front fee. He literally plugged it in and said it was working and it must be my receiver. I Brought in the receiver and wanted another up front fee with no credit for the turntable. He told me that it was two separate issues after he was the one who said just bring the turntable. He was rude and belligerent. The worst customer service I have ever encountered.
