Great hike. You'll struggle a bit if you aren't slightly conditioned with some exercise. I recommend hiking straight to the third peak, but the views are great from all three. Bring water, you'll need it. And stretch well before this hike. It's basically a natural stairmaster most of the way up. The beginning with the wood steps I would say is the hardest and really sets in the fatigue early, but if you can push through that then you can finish the hike.

It is by far one of the best hikes I have done in British Columbia. Super challenging to many but a cup of tea for me. The best way to do it is start with the 3rd peak and then come down to the second peak and then first peak. There is a short cut from the second to the first peak you just need to be brave to climb the rocks without looking down. It's so trilling and fun. My legs thanked me after words. Tips, carry enough water and protein bars you need them. Do not liter no one wants to look at your rubbish. Go with a good camera the view is gorgeous. It's a great place to propose ???

We came from Ontario and this os our first hike here in BC. Comparing it to Ontario, all I can say is Ontario's hiking spot is nothing to what BC can offer. Stawamus is not for faint hearted and the steep stairs and rocks will make it worst going to the peak. You might need some rest along the way just to catch your breath. But don't worry, the rest along the way is nice. Just enjoy the presence of silence and hear the beautiful birds singing. It took us 1hr getting to 1st peak of the trail and had breakfast there with a view. You must go early so that you will enjoy the view. Because when we went down around 10am, lot of hikers are now coming.

Great area to get away from the city... there can be a lot of tourist though so it's a bit of a gamble depending when you visit. The new online Parking pass system seems like a good idea to better monitor visitors. Hopefully it becomes better with time, as the parking lots were still a challenge to find a spot. The park staff that I spoke with (Bridgette) was awesome; really nice and informative. :)

Went and did a BC road-trip where we looped from Vancouver to Banff back to Whistler and down to Vancouver again. This was by far my favorite hike. We did all 3 peaks and the third one was not needed. The first and second are musts. There’s a shortcut between first and second peak that I missed. Had more ladders. Takes around 5 hours.

Extremely challenging hike for someone visiting out of town from Ontario who's not used to mountainous terrain. I imagine this would be slightly easier in drier weather but unfortunately I went when it was raining. I had to crawl on my hands and knees to reach the top of the first peak and my palms were wrecked from constantly slipping. Going back down is very hard on the knees, especially the portion with the stairs. Nonetheless, the views were absolutely breathtaking with the fog and mist. There's also some viewpoints along the way with spectacular forest views.

Love everything about Stawamus. It has a great area to camp, though my husband and I have yet to camp there yet. We have hiked the Big Chief which is somewhat challenging if you are accustomed to long hikes up hills. If you want to give it a try, make sure to pack light, have water, and to take many breaks. Also the 1st peek has ladders and chains to help you reach the top. Don't be intimated by these tools, they are there to help, and they really do. Walking up to Shannon Falls is much smoother and ita beautiful there as well. Great out there!

Absolutely difficult trail to do but SO worth it. Within this trail there are 3 peaks to climb when you get to the top (easy medium & hard). The first time I went I did all 3 (which I would recommend for new timers) the second time I went I just did the smallest peak. The sights at the top are gorgeous. But beware this place is a steep incline that's practically all -man made- steps, so can be sore on the knees.
