I'm 3rd generation with this Anglican Church! ,My Welsh grandparents chose it in about 1917, when they immigrated from Wales, with my Dad then about 4 yr old.. all of them speaking Welsh as well as english. The Music must have been majestic and the deep Love of God must have been very apparent with alot of indepth discussion about Christianity; to have attracted them there in the first place. A same description of this Church, would have continued past 1936 when my just married parents who lived in Cedarvale chose to go there. Then I became the 3rd generation to choose to attend in the 1980s, at the invitation of a precious person from my Charismatic Prayer group at Holy Rosary R.Catholic Church. Ecumenism was finally alive and well during this time of great Spiritual Renewal in Canada, and the U.S!!! The Music had changed a bit now, and I added Gospel and Spirituals to my Amazing Anglican experiences. And the attitude of deep Love for Jesus in thought, word and deed was STILL there, but it came in a new colour for me. Yes, "Black Lives matter," especially in Toronto and especially in the Anglican Church. Because St.Michael and All Angels was a Black Church and I and the Rev. John Erb whom they adored were in the white minority. It was so warm and laid back, it was like being in the West Indies again. And the FOOD. And the dancing. And the joking around about who was created 1st, the Black Race or the Welsh. Because we were totally one in Music: and in Our Passion for Jesus Christ Now it is 40 years later, and once again I am drawn to St.Michaels. It is still a Black Church to me. They've welcomed a few more of we white Anglicans & R.Catholics, etc.,,now it's about 80-20% I hope it's still that warmth for strangers, passion for Jesus and openness for the Holy Spirit. And that Food. And Our Music. jce
