With the government of Ontario lifting the Mandatory Masking Policy today, the policy direction for the Diocese of Thunder Bay will be that wearing a Mask in our churches for Mass/services or at other parish meetings or gatherings will be OPTIONAL, and will be the personal choice of each parishioner. We will respect whatever decisions are taken by our parishioners, and we will recognize everyone’s right to wear or not to wear a mask. However, we encourage some social distancing to continue.
During Sunday or weekday Masses, priests, deacons or other ministers of Holy Communion, must continue to sanitize their hands beforehand, and must continue to wear a mask while distributing Holy Communion at Mass or in other places. Communion from the cup is still not allowed at this time.
There will be further updates about the ending of our Diocesan Vaccine Policy, which we noted initially was only to be temporary due to the pandemic. Thank you for your continued support of our diocesan policies. These are important for the safety of everyone. We encourage those who can, to once again attend Mass at their parish church, especially as we approach the celebrations of Holy Week and Easter
