Sonechko Ukrainian Bilingual Daycare - Saskatoon

The goal of the Sonechko Ukrainian Bilingual Daycare Centre is to bring an opportunity to the city of Saskatoon and surrounding area for first class Ukrainian/English Bilingual Daycare education. Planning for this Bilingual Daycare Centre has been years in the making by a group of dedicated individuals from Saskatoon's thriving Ukrainian community. Teaming up with Bishop Filevich Ukrainian Bilingual School from the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division would provide a natural partnership for the Bilingual Daycare Centre. The school, located in the Sutherland area of Saskatoon was the first Ukrainian-English elementary school in the province of Saskatchewan. It was officially renamed Bishop Filevich Ukrainian Bilingual School on September 28, 2006.

The Sonechko Ukrainian Bilingual Ukrainian Daycare Centre would focus on encouraging creativity, individuality, and independence. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Saskatoon Branch, Inc (UCC-SB) and the Ukrainian National Federation Saskatoon Branch's goal is to create an environment filled with love, patience and kindness. The employees at the Bilingual Daycare Centre would be qualified with Early Childhood Education (ECE) and would each play a significant role in the learning and development of all children who attend the Bilingual Daycare Centre. The Centre would be run by caring and nurturing individuals keeping in mind that children learn by example and thus only the most qualified and responsible people will be hired. Standards would be kept high and in accordance with industry best practices.

The ultimate goal is to have fifty funded spots at the centre for children aged 1-12.
