★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shaun Johnson of Slegg Lumber in Duncan (formerly Dodds Lumber) helped us pick out our interior, exterior doors, and hardware for our new home. The first thing you notice about Shaun is his very positive and friendly attitude. He asks relevant questions to narrow down what you need and what you want. Then you discover that he knows his products and he can quickly and effortlessly guide you through the online catalog to show you what options would work best for your house. Having a house built is a monumental task and Shaun made this part easy and a joyful experience. Thank you Shaun and Slegg Lumber (formerly Dodds) in Duncan, B.C.!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Used to be my "go-to" building supply store when all the staff who worked there knew the customers, their needs, kept on top of inventory etc. A well oiled machine. Slegg bought the business, the staff for whatever reason disappeared and in mho the business has been going downhill ever since. Prices went up right across the board on everything and I've been there three times to buy certain things which should be in stock and haven't been. Sad, sad, sad, end of an era. I along with many others won't be back that's for sure.

Tonnes of helpful advice at the desk, and the guys in the yard will make sure you are getting what you need, including help. Quality tools are available here as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This store when it was Dodd’s was a go to place. Since it changed hands the prices have gone up substantially. Today we were charged $37.99 for a box of drywall mud. I called the store in Langford to price the same item and it was $29.99. We drove to a store near Chemainus and it was $22.99 a box. Exact same product. I suggest it would be wise to shop around if you are price conscious
Needless to say we will be returning our purchase at slegg Duncan. The staff was very snitty and unfriendly and not at all helpful. When I called and questioned her on the difference in price her reply was I only go by what the computer says, you’ll have to take it up with the manager but when we purchased the exact same box of mud a couple weeks ago, the man at the counter was very helpful and accommodating. He did an override and charged us $23.99 a box. Something the girl today said she couldn’t do. Or perhaps she just didn’t care about customer satisfaction

Your knowledge of the product you sell was exceptional.
As a business owner with many contacts in the building industry I will highly recommend they use you personally.
You don’t see a lot of great personal service like this anymore :)
I hope your boss gives you a raise and realizes how fortunate he or she is to have a dedicated employee like you.
