SJC Financial - Ottawa Mortgage Broker

I recently used SJC Financial to purchase my first home (working mainly with Jessica Gerbara) and really enjoyed the experience! They were responsive, explained the process in detail, and were always professional and answered every single question I had (of which there were a lot!). I would definitely recommend them.

Make sure you do your research. Before you commit have your exit strategy in place and ready to go as soon as it is possible to execute it and do not rely on anyone but yourself to get the job done. Use a company like this only as a means to an end and as long as you have realistic expectations of what they will do for you then things will go accordingly.

In an environment where brokers and realtors are saturated, it took me a while to hone down on my search to find a broker I could trust to facilitate my request’s. I heard about SJC from a close friend that had great success. Steven, the president of SJC personally took care of my file. During the transaction he wore many different hats, listened carefully to my plan and suggested ideas. He arranged for an appraisal on my rental property and assisted me with re-financing and then, facilitated a new mortgage for a property I found, with a VERY tight close. As many know, purchasing a home is one of the most stressful decisions; days before my close I was feeling anxious, excited and overwhelmed. Steven, took my calls on a Sunday night and late evening with updates, till the very end was supporting and re-assuring. In todays post-covid era many relationships are becoming purely transactional, especially with everything being on-line and DocuSign’ losing the true customer centric experience and dealing with Steven instilled my confidence there’s still people in this business that care about their clients and not just looking for an easy deal, he invited me to his office and it was just extremely assuring knowing he was working diligently on my file. My deal involved many factors: different appraisals, re-financing and a new purchase. All within a month, it was a tight deadline with many, moving parts and SJC still pulled through, he also sourced me an amazing Lawyer ( Valentin Erikson) that took the file with a fast close and got it done, equally as respectful as Steven, Val made sure we closed on time. Currently, I’m writing this review from my new property and couldn’t be happier, I love this new built; he secured me an amazing rate despite interest rates going higher. If you’re looking for a re-financing or a new mortgage, don’t base your decisions on easy reviews from different brokerage firms; do yourself a favour and pick one carefully, do your research – I’m glad I did mine and highly recommend the crew at SJC. I recently closed on my very first home. It was all possible because of Steven and most importantly Vicky who was working on my file. Vicky was constantly in touch with me for the past month and updating me on every step of the way.
