★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I didn't hike this trail (went west up Ashlu Valley instead) but I can describe the trailhead. It's 3.5km from the paved road on a 2WD gravel road. There's a locked gate just before the bridge close to the trailhead with room to park a half dozen cars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great trailhead, lots of parking. It's not a real lot more of a gravel road with lots of pullovers. Gravel is not too bad don't really need a 4x4 to get up or anything you'd get away with just a regular sedan to be honest. Nice quiet area with trails that are much less travelled than the ones you'd see at the Chief.
