About Sherri Rollins

Part of the Executive Policy Committee, she serves as Chair of Protection, Community Services and Parks and is part of Mayor Brian Bowman's budgetary working group. In addition to her duties as the ward councillor for Fort Rouge East Fort Garry, Sherri is the city council representative to the Winnipeg Library Board, and sits on the Mayor's Indigenous Advisory Circle.  She also serves on the Winnipeg Housing Steering Committee, Finance Committee, City Centre Community Committee, and five business improvement zone boards.

Sherri works on council to build safer communities through safer streets, community safety, social and economic development including building a more inclusive city through education, daycare, and poverty reduction efforts.  This includes efforts to support harm reduction, equitable access, community building and safer service delivery for those and by those that are impacted by substance abuse.  She is committed to realizing the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples at the municipal level and responding to the calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and calls to justice of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

Sherri's career has focused on many dynamic areas including: community engagement, government access, education issues, health and social policy, social and economic development, accessibility, treaty land entitlement, mineral resource development, canada border agency program implementation, legacy issues of Indian Residential Schools, organizational design, training and development, corporate strategic planning, program review, and public administration.

Prior to becoming the City Councillor for Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry, she was Senior Advisor to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and Chairperson for the largest and oldest school board in Manitoba: the Winnipeg School Division.

Sherri has a BA in Conflict Resolution Studies from the University of Winnipeg. In 2010 she chose Judaism completing the conversion process at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. She is a proud Wendat woman. She lives in Winnipeg with her partner Darcy Rollins and her three children.
