About Seventy-Seven Signs | 77 Signs
Is there a hidden meaning? Well, it was late in 1976 and the company was in its infancy. ‘76 Signs’ didn’t sound right. But ‘77 Signs’ did. They were right, it was better and so it stuck.
40 years ago this decision was made. Throughout the years there have been other important decisions that helped us maintain, grow and meet your needs. Just think for a moment how signs have changed over the last 40 years.
High voltage neon was being used everywhere. Although neon will never be completely replaced, technology has given us LED and it’s here to stay. LED is even replacing fluorescent lighting. At one time we hand painted each letter on a sign! Now automated equipment prints and cuts all the lettering. One or two colour advertising is no longer standard, full colour printing is being demanded by everyone. Technology is driving live animation on electronic screens in front of businesses, even with time of day advertising.
What hasn’t changed is the need for businesses like yours to advertise and maintain brand recognition through an effective sign program. This is our strength. We work with businesses to drive customers to your door. From this, our corporate statement was born:

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I contacted 77 Signs a week prior to the scheduled installation of our sign to confirm everything was on schedule. They had totally forgotten about our sign and had not even started the production process. So the sign got installed a month late after we had already opened.
They did make up a temporary banner for the meantime, which is better than nothing, but not very professional at all and reflected poorly on our brand. Not an ideal situation for a restaurant launch as it made us appear disorganized.
Further, when they sent me a proof of our pylon sign I told them it was wrong. Despite that they still produced and installed the wrong sign. It took them 7 months to correct that error. I feel that if I hadn’t withheld payment they never would have fixed it all.
When it came time to settle the balance of the invoice no apology or discount was offered.
I would not recommend 77 Signs. They are disorganized and you are lucky to get your sign installed at all, let alone your sign be correct.
The installer Bob is a friendly and fantastic guy. I feel bad for him as he is left to bear the brunt of the production errors. Bob was apologetic and assisted in coordinating the replacement sign. Without his assistance I’m sure the erroneous sign would have been left as is.
Two stars as they did make a temporary banner and Bob is a hero.
