Excellent food! I have never had Laotian food before and this was an unforgettable, incredible experience. Lots of gluten-free and vegetarian options were available on the menu. Our waitress told us that many of the recipes come from the chef's family — they were so flavourful, perfectly accented with spices and sauces, and every mouthful felt well-rounded and satisfying. The dessert options were all also gluten-free, and 2/3 of the desserts were vegan friendly. The terrace was also beautiful and every feature and amenity is nice and comforting. I will be looking forward to retuning very soon!

I was a bit sad when machiavelli closed, but I have to say this is probably one of my new favorite restaurants in the city. I am from Yunnan, China which is very close to Laos and the Dai minority people there have cuisine very similar to that of Laos. Other than being a little less spicy, I was completely blown away by the authentic flavors and presentation. I haven't been able to visit my family since the pandemic. Thank you guys for giving me a small piece of home here in Montreal

So my buddy invites me to a restaurant to send me off properly before school starts. Being laotian and thai myself. My expectation were high for authentic south east asian food. Wowzer. Chef kiss to mrs. LYN . The papaya salad was fiyah. The funk of lao was there. Legit laotian experience, friends. And our beautiful waitress Natassia was professional as they come. Thank you for a great night SepLai MTL. Will come again with a date next time! Kopchaii lailai ??

I came across this restaurant on tiktok and ended up coming with my friend today! It was truly a really yummy experience. It was my first time trying Laotian cuisine!! We got the fried mozeralla rolls, Yummy Salat (which was both of our favorites’ dish, one of the best salad dressings I’ve ever experienced), fresh spring roll (great peanut sauce) and the Oyster Mushroom Laap. Not too pricey, amazing terrace and ambiance and the servers were so kind and helpful<3

Laos food, quite rare in Montreal. a place you could BYOB. They have a nice ,cute backyard , feeling good. Lapp is a National dish of Laos, likes kind of putin in QC. Meat mix with the speical herbs , lime juice and fish oil. plus a tender sticky rice , taste fresh. And the spring roll in Sep Lai , it is not with meat , not veg, it is full of cheese..

Sep Lai not only introduces Montreal to mouthwatering Laotian cuisine in an approachable and exciting way but also sets the scenes for a cozy night out with friends, family or date on the twinkle-lit terrasse. The passion and attention to details really shines throughout every aspect. This restaurant and its chef/staff are true gems! Highly recommend for any occasion
