Searle Greenhouses Ltd - East Selkirk

I stopped by recently with my daughter in the hopes of adding a couple tropicals to our collection, but I left with an experience that left me feeling absolutely disgusted instead. I don't ever review places, but other women and young girls thinking of coming here need to be made aware of what I witnessed. Throughout our visit I noticed a man with shoulder length blond hair and a beard who appeared to be a greenhouse employee, as he had a walkie talkie, constantly floating around my daughter and I. No matter what section we went into- he managed to show up a few meters away every time without fail. At one point my daughter walked off to look around on her own, and when I went to find her I noticed the man a few feet away from her, very obviously looking at her like no grown man should towards a minor. Once he noticed me walking over he grabbed his walkie talkie and started mumbling something about out of stock plants, a pathetic coverup. My daughter and I left right away and will not return in the future, the drive to the city for plants is much more worth it if it means we can feel safe within the store. In response to the owner: I appreciate the quick response from the owner, however I feel this is an inadequate reply. I’d like to reiterate the man clearly had a radio and my daughter and I both heard it go off as we were walking around. We heard words such as "center part/port" and a few names back and forth. If you require a more detailed description he had his hair slicked back into a mullet hairstyle and he was wearing black sunglasses, in his late 30’s or early 40’s. He was also on the shorter side. I memorized what I could after noticing his constant presence near my daughter, so do with that information what you will. I will not be reaching out via email as I do not intend on returning to an establishment which seems more concerned with protecting this employee than the safety of its customers.

I can't believe I've never heard of this place before. Was in Selkirk going for the vaccine and googled greenhouses nearby, never would have found it otherwise. The things they have are in such beautiful shape, especially the trees and shrubs. The herbs are really great too, I've never seen such well kept mint and basil. Will be back next year

Wow! The new garden centre at Searle’s is amazing. So well organized. They follow all the health guidelines for this crazy time. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of plants to choose from. The quality and prices are excellent. I have purchased my bedding plants and tropicals from them and will continue doing so in the future

Terrific and friendly folks working here. Mike is possibly the nicest person I've ever met in my ten years of working in arboriculture.

The best variety and pricing for all your gardening needs! I've never had such success with planting green peppers and tomatoes until I purchased from here! I'm looking forward to checking out when they open for the Christmas holiday season!

The plants are good quality and lush. Pricing is very affordable and worth every penny. All those working there are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Was blown away by the prices on flowers, houseplants and herbs! I do not live in the area, but the trip was so worth it - picked up some truly beautiful arrangements for my balcony last summer. Cannot wait for the spring/summer planting season so I can go pick up more beautiful plants from Searle's!
