About Scotsman's Hill

Dover’s community association offers a number of activities to residents. Regular game nights, featuring pool, darts, and shuffleboard in the community centre pub are popular. Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, before and after school programs, jellybean dances, indoor and outdoor soccer, t-ball, and hockey are also facilitated by the community centre.
Dover hosts a number of annual special events, including an Easter party, a Halloween part, Breakfast with Santa and Dover Days. Dover Days, held on the first weekend in June, include a parade complete with floats, a carnival, games, rides and a petting zoo. Dance and event nights are also held in connection with St. Patrick’s Day and New Years Eve. In addition to these activities, the community association also seeks to improve the area. A new park was recently established, complete with 12 beach volleyball courts, a water fountain, benches, and a pathway. There are plans to develop a baseball diamond and soccer field as well.

Nice walking path with an excellent view of the city and mountains. Nice new benches for sitting. During the Calgary Stampede it's a favourite spot to enjoy the fireworks every night at 10pm.

Excellent location for a view of the entire city. Beautiful at night time, well worth the trip. Lots of benches, a clean area, and some pathways that head down to the stampede grounds and allow access to the core. Inglewood borders behind you, and to the left looking towards the city center is the industrial sector. Which has a ton of jobs available. If you follow the path down and around with your car you will meet the cemetery and the train station is a stone's throw away.

So happy to see different Tipis from the members of Canada's First Nation and getting and seeing a glimpse of their wonderful arts, craftsmanship and culture. I am honored to stand beside one of the members of the First Nations and seeing closely how beautiful her native dress is. It is so intricate and colorful.

This is one of the cool spots in Calgary to get fantastic skyline shots. If you get there at sunrise or sunset, then you’ll be rewarded! ?

This is the spot to be at if you wanna see the skyline of Calgary as it’s very easy to access with ample parking space! As a tourist, this was a must visit for us and we loved walking around the area during day time and at night. I think it’s a perfect spot to have picnics during summer. You can take the stairs to go down the hill as well. We weren’t able to catch any sunset as it was very cloudy on the day we visited but I can imagine that sunset would be spectacular from this lookout ☺️

Great place to view Calgary downtown, enjoy a picnic, just take a nice walk or to view fireworks during special occasions. You can also walk down the hill and walk alongside the bow river. It's also the best view in the city to overlook the actual Calgary Stampede attractions in the summer when its in the city. You can actually see most of the Grandstand events and bull riding and horse races from the hill too. It does get super busy though during Stampede time so you wanna go early - at least an hour before fireworks to get a good spot to watch and enjoy it. Police frequently bike through there too so it's actually a pretty safe place to be. I'm born and raised in Calgary so I visit this place fairly often every year. I also used to work at the old Stampede Casino in the Big Four Building, so it kind of has a second home feel for me whenever I'm down there. There's a great ice cream shop, breakfast restaurant and Vietnamese restaurant close by that you should visit if you haven't already. Oh, and don't forget your camera because you'll definitely get some amazing pictures from the hillside.
