★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Renewed our Mortgage with Scotiabank in Humboldt. We were also putting our house on the Market at that time. We asked many questions about penalties for paying off the mortgage early, about variable versus fixed terms. The bank didn't give us all the info we needed, it was Covid so we couldn't even meet in person to discuss. In turn we signed on to what the bank told us was best and now when we sell our house we get to pay a large penalty because we weren't given all the facts up front. They rushed us through took our money and left us to pay a lot just for selling, even though I asked about this, they said "it wouldnt be much if anything", they lied. Talk to a Mortgage Broker, not the bank and get the real facts on a Mortgage.
