About Us

The Saskatchewan Genealogical Society (SGS) is the voice of genealogy in Saskatchewan.  With 13 branches and over 850 members, the purpose of the non-profit, volunteer organization is to promote and develop the study, research and preservation of genealogy and family history.  The mandate is to preserve Saskatchewan records; provide assistance to Saskatchewan residents researching their heritage anywhere, and to people from elsewhere researching their Saskatchewan heritage.

The SGS Library is the largest genealogical lending library in Canada.  The library is open to the public, however, only members may borrow books.

Due to the size of our facility, the records maintained, and staff sensitivities we ask that you visit us SCENT FREE.  Persons attending the library or office wearing fragrance may be asked to leave the premise.

Parking:  Metered parking is available on 11^th Avenue.  Free two hour parking is available on side streets.  Do not park in parking lot east of the building.
