BackThe life cycles for the materials recycled at SARCAN all have an interesting story! Aluminum has a closed-loop recycling process, which means that recycled cans turn back into new cans. The beverage you enjoy in a can today could be back on the shelf as a new can in as little as 60 days!
Plastics are turned into different kinds of recycled plastic products, such as park benches and plastic wood. Plastic flake gets used to create things like fleece jackets and automotive carpeting.
Clear glass gets melted down and turned into little tiny beads that get added into road paint to create reflectivity. On Saskatchewan highways, over five million pounds of recycled glass from SARCAN are put in the white and yellow lines on the road every year!
Coloured glass gets turned into fibre glass insulation. Cartons are turned into recycled paper products, and so much more.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hours of operation do not match reality. I have wasted countless hours driving from out of town only to find out they are closed. Today was at 1030 on a Saturday. Either update your hours, or publicly share when you are closed. I will be calling to confirm if you are open from now on, because apparently scan is not intelligent enough to display store hours like every other business.

UPDATE got in round 230 ish and service was quick and painless. Could use a little quicker service but due to covid restrictions I can see what took so long. They did the best they could with what they had.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very Disappointed. Phoned ahead regarding 2 large tvs for recycling...very polite employee said assistance would be provided at bay door when I arrived...just phone in. No way! When I arrived and phoned, rudely told no assistance (no one is allowed to leave the bldg) not allowed to use their cart, they not allowed to lend a dolly. I was told unload tvs yourself, despite being very large and heavy, just leave them in front of doors.
I had to pay a polite gentleman waiting in line to assist me. And dumped the tvs in front of their doors....they promptly sent 2 employees outside...despite telling me noone was allowed to leave the building...to haul them inside

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Two employees doing their best! 10 minutes waiting outside and 30 minutes waiting inside. Several in line outside and four Customers inside, two being served. Safety dividers implemented. UPDATE:NO masks necessary anymore and you don't have to take all your bags in at once if you have several bags or whatever. Fully staffed with competent workers that do their best to do their jobs quickly and efficiently while making as few counting errors as possible to the pointing of counting out loud so you know they keep legitimate count There are plexiglass barriers in place between staff and customers. They clean up and wipe down between each customer and seem to give their full attention to the customer and tasks in front of them. Moose Jaw should be proud of our local Sarcan depot. Excellent job guys!
