About SARCAN Recycling

Recycling Conserves Resources

Back

The life cycles for the materials recycled at SARCAN all have an interesting story! Aluminum has a closed-loop recycling process, which means that recycled cans turn back into new cans. The beverage you enjoy in a can today could be back on the shelf as a new can in as little as 60 days!

Plastics are turned into different kinds of recycled plastic products, such as park benches and plastic wood. Plastic flake gets used to create things like fleece jackets and automotive carpeting.

Clear glass gets melted down and turned into little tiny beads that get added into road paint to create reflectivity. On Saskatchewan highways, over five million pounds of recycled glass from SARCAN are put in the white and yellow lines on the road every year!

Coloured glass gets turned into fibre glass insulation. Cartons are turned into recycled paper products, and so much more.

First time coming here never heard of a sarcan making you throw a away bottles, when theres old water in it. What a waste of bottles. I wont be coming here again for sure.

Staff here did as well as expected, they were shorthanded, as the guy repeated, so he made me bring only what I could carry, which was about $30 worth of bottles, then I had to start over at the back of the line. SARCAN is a good idea, but this is way too tedious, even before covid, we are able to pay the deposit locally where I live over a half hour away, but have to haul them here, I think if we have to pay the deposit locally, we should be able to return them locally. Otherwise this is a government scam, we are forced to pay the deposit on beverages then forced to haul them a long distance.... There's a shortage of workers at the facilities and a shortage of depots. Companies that sell the bottles should haul them back after a dropoff, why not use the empty truck?

I would say the worst place to take your recyclables, guy that was serving me today was pretty rude looked like he hated life and even stopped counting my bottles to count another customer bottles that was in the back of the line idk if its because I'm native and the other person was white i hope he does that for everyoneone. I did make two trips in there but had to wait in line on my second trip, I think it should be first come first serve and finish your job. Spirtwood has the worst service id have to say blain lake is the best place to go i will never go there again.
