Small park of only 51 sites. fairly close sites but nice. Sandy beach with kyak or canoe launch. On the southern shores of Kamaniskeg lake .

Excellent place for the summer and early autumn days. We travelled and visited many different parks when we were buying our first trailer and this one was the best we have seen. What a great choice! We are in our 50s and 60s and have been here since the beginning of the season. Park itself is very nice, well kept, nicely decorated, clean and managed beautifully. Linda and George, park managers are super nice, always helpful and ready to help if you need anything at all. They both welcomed us with a big smile and assisted helping all the way when we were settling in. What is most important for us is the fact that there are only about 50 sites and it’s very quiet. Ideal for people who love nature and come actually to relax and rest. Recommended for older people, definitely not recommended for those who like to party and get loud. The high points: beautiful area, wonderful sand beach and nice lake.

Nothing but good things to say about Sand Bay Family Campground. This is a nice quiet park with good friendly people, a beautiful sandy beach the kids love, and some of the nicest sunsets around. The park managers Linda and George are some of the nicest, hardest working people you'll meet. Tons of great memories made here already.

Stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage. 3 kids 2 adults…had the basics would recommend an additional fan to create cross breeze as well to speed up drying towels. Laundry amenities were not available during covid. Not a far drive to town for shopping or hiking trails for the family. The beach is the vote worthy feature. So clear, clean and calm…enjoyable for any age regardless of swim capabilities. Respectful dock users, can bring tubes, noodles ( highly recommend from relaxation) sunsets were beautiful. Great place for peace and resetting from the city.

Chantyle was quick to respond to my initial inquiry and got our booking completed easily. When we arrived at the campground, Linda greeted us, escorted us to our cabin, and made sure we had everything we needed. It was so nice to have some supplies stocked in the cupboard that a guest may have forgotten like tinfoil. The kitchen was stocked with the comforts of home of a toaster, coffee maker, kettle as well as a variety of sizes of pots and pans to cook any meal. The cabin was rustic and cozy with a fabulous gas stove. We were there in an incredibly hot weather week so the fans that were thoughtfully provided were put to good use. The property around the cabin was large enough that we could enjoy some lawn games with my family without disturbing a neighbour. The beach was fabulous!! The water was so easy to walk into and the sand was groomed often. George and Linda are great property managers that are available easily and they did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week and would love to return!

A wonderful family orientated campground. Very friendly place. Sweet cottage with all you need. Great fishing and swimming - the water is soft. It is north facing so there is a cool breeze. Nice setting along cliffs so it is sheltered. Quiet too. Very well maintained campground. Barry's Bay is nice, check out Grumbling Granny's for well priced gifts. The rose quartz quarry is just amazing and the Beryl mine is very sparkly - all near Quadeville. Crooked slide Park too for some logging history.

Chantyle and Bill are very nice owners and are committed to on going upgrades to the property. George and Linda the onsight Camp Managers are very friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. Hard workers constantly tweaking the facilities. Job well done!

Fabulous – the area, the campground, the managers!!! This is one of those places I don’t even want to review because why would I share such a secret with the entire internet?! It is everything we look for in a trip to “near northern” Ontario. Kamaniskeg Lake is a rarity – crystal clear, sandy bottoms but rocky cliffs; calm enough for paddle-boarding or kayaking but big enough to explore with a boat. The entire park is a peaceful respite from the world and the residents are happy to keep it that way. The waterfront is perfect for families with young kids. Those with motor boats use the docks provided right there in the sheltered bay but take their adventures out deeper, while the shallows seem to stretch out forever for kids to play. The beach is great. George keeps it raked so that the sand is lovely, soft and clean. There is a stunning rock cliff on the right and a fence demarcating the edge of the property on the left. Even so, given that we shared the beach with only one of two families each day (the entire park has only about 50 sites,) there was more than enough space that I even felt comfortable sunbathing! The cabin was spotless – and I’m picky. It is a place of simple comforts: comfortable beds, a wood-burning stove for the colder months and a gas stove/oven that puts mine at home to shame. (We were in Cabin #4.) It has all cooking equipment and enough hot water for a decent- length shower. It exceeded my expectations for cleanliness and comfort. Linda makes certain that each cabin is perfect before every guest arrives – and should any need arrive thereafter. One tip would be to bring room darkening shades/curtains, if you’re sensitive to the early-morning light, and mats for inside the doors or outside the shower, if you like to limit the sand you track in. Our kids are teenagers. They appreciated the waterfront, the Stand-Up Paddle Boards and kayaks that we rented from Barry’s Bay Outfitters (but that we later discovered are also available to rent from the campground) and they loved the wifi in the cabin and our private firepit in our own backyard. We enjoyed exploring the area. Crooked Slide Park is a beautiful spot for a picnic and there’s an incredible monument also on Old Barry’s Bay Road that was built by the Polish-Canadian community to honour the thousands of Polish boy scouts and girl guides who were killed during the Warsaw Uprising. (I had no idea!) Make sure to check out Grumblin’ Grannies for the most eclectic selection of fun and crazy finds. There’s the store on Hwy 60 in Barry’s Bay but also the warehouse on 62 as you’re driving into town. As well, I highly recommend grabbing a bite and a fun summer cocktail at The Bent Anchor which is nestled down on the water just past the bridge in Combermere. (You can even visit by boat if that’s your preferred mode of transportation.) All this to say, I really hope we’ll be back. It’s a 5 hour drive from our part of Ontario but the moment we arrived and George and Linda greeted us at the door, I knew we’d found a special home. Thanks so much, you two. Enjoy the rest of the season!
