Salmon Eye Fishing Charters

We booked a trip with Salmon Eye Charters in Victoria in early February. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and did a great job getting us on some fish. He was very aware of conditions, forecasts, fishing areas and knows all the little ticks of the trade to maximize your chances to hook into fish. They are personable, easy to talk to, and strive to make the your fishing trip as memorable as possible. I will definitely book with Salmon Eye again in the future! Thanks again for making a great trip even better!

I would not recommend that US citizens use this charter service. Sam has been unresponsive in emails and does not return calls; as a matter of fact his VM is usually full so your unable to leave a message. In short we booked a trip in 2019 for a 2020 trip and paid half of the trips costs as a deposit as requested by Salmon Eye, then Covid hit. After many attempts to contact Sam and only after requesting our deposit back due this lack of response he finally responded and stated we would only get 75% back for cancelling however we disagree it wasn’t cancelled we couldn’t travel to Canada! After talking with the others in the group we decided to help his small business and move trip to July of 2021. Moving forward once again the trip was disrupted due to the Canadian border being closed. Again after many attempts to contact Sam he sent a check to us for our deposit however upon trying to cash it my bank told me it would be in CAD not USD as we paid via a credit card. The amount of his check did not cover the deposit and again I have relentlessly tried to get Sam to call me so we can discuss the matter. He sent an email stating to send the check back and he would send another however I have requested he refund my credit card that I paid with and he has again been nonresponsive. We have allowed Sam to hold this money for over two years now and I think that Sam needs to do the responsible business owner thing and return our deposit. From what I understand under BC consumer protection act he must return our full deposit. We will now be forced to fill out forms and these events with the BC commerce. DO NOT USE THIS FISHING CHARTER!
