About Ryan Parker Photography

Hi there, I’m Ryan. Not only am I a professional photographer, I'm a theatre/film/television Actor. I've studied acting in Musical Theatre at Grant MacEwan University, I also have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Alberta. I've been on screen (TV and Film) and I've played Off-Broadway in New York City. I picked up my first camera in 2007 while I was in University. Shooting headshots was a natural progression for me, as all my friends needed them, and I had a camera. In 2017, I was named one of Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40 in Avenue Magazine. I’m proud to say that I was voted Edmonton’s Best Photographer in 2018 in the Vue Weekly ‘Best of Edmonton Awards’. I’ve studied the art of headshot photography in New York City under mentorship of Peter Hurley. I have the honour of being Canada's first and only Mentor in Peter Hurley's affiliate program 'Headshot Crew', where I began coaching photographers in focused online groups. Coaching and mentoring fellow headshot photographers was extremely rewarding. It kept me on my toes, it kept me focused on growth. I'm also the proudest father and husband in the world and I count myself lucky every day I get to spend with my beautiful family.

His studio is professional and really well-equipped. I loved that I could see the photos as they were being taken, and that he used that to coach me on why he's asking me to do certain things that sounded weird. I also loved that we narrowed down the top photos right then and there, and that his touchup turnaround time was pretty quick. Unlike my previous experience Ryan made the entire process simple and even fun. I wasn’t rushed or forced to select only one or two outfits and was instead encouraged to try many different looks with my clothing, jewelry and hair. In each and every different look I had images that were light years ahead of the ones taken with my previous photographer. He was so great I ended up buying more images than I initially intended only because they were just too beautiful to pass up. Funny thing is I’m talking about the untouched images…I can’t wait to see the final results! Do yourself a favour and pay the little bit extra to get the pictures you deserve that highlight your own beauty and personality.
