About Rocky Mountain Behaviour Analysts

Covid19 Safety Plan

Created May 2020

Revised: November 30, 2020

Due to the covid19 we have implemented the following changes to ensure the safety of both our employees and the individuals who attend our services.

All employees will follow the guidelines below and bring any concerns to Angie, the program coordinator.

All staff will be trained in the Safety Plan Procedures including all new employees.

Precautions:

Social Distancing

  • Employees must stay 6 feet away from each other and others in the building. Remember to stay 6 feet away from others while in the hallway, waiting areas, as well as in the kitchen and lunch areas.
  • At times we understand it may be hard to stay 6 feet away from coworkers/kids/youth/Parents, which is why we require all staff to wear face masks when working in close contact situations. Face shields and safety glasses are also available but are not mandatory.
  • Employees will not be allowed to have visitors while at the work.
  • Employees need to each lunch in a separate room/space from others.

Procedure for masks

  • Employees will wash hands before getting and putting on masks.
  • Masks will be put one prior to the child’s session and will be taken off after the child has left the office.
  • Employees will follow instructions for proper mask removal. i.e. pull elastics off the ears from behind the ears, do not touch the mask. See poster for proper use of masks.
  • When finished with your mask put the mask into the appropriate dirty mask container and immediately wash hands.
  • Each employee will wash the masks they used for the day at the end of the day. Employees will use hot water and tide laundry detergent and wash the masks by hand or in the salad spinner. They will then hang them in their designated area. First thing in the morning employees will put their dry masks in a sealed Ziplock back and use mask from another sealed Ziplock back for the day. Staff can also take their masks home to wash.

Hand washing and general hygiene

  • Employees will wash their hands frequently and for the recommended 20 seconds.
  • Employees will wash hands upon arriving at work, before and after each session, before and after eating, before and after cleaning, and prior to going home.
  • Employees will use hand sanitizer at least halfway through the session as well as getting the kids/youth to as well.
  • Children/youth must wash hands upon arrival and prior to leaving they need to use hand sanitizer. Kids must use hand sanitizer mid session. Employees will ensure this is carried out.
  • Employees will always cough or sneeze into their elbow or a tissue and encourage kids/youth to as well. Please remember to wash your hands as often as needed.
  • Children and youth can not eat at RMBA unless it is part of their written program.
  • Employees will not share pens, please pick a couple pens (label them with your name if needed) and keep them in your designated room.
  • Employees will bring their own dishes from home and not share dishes or food.

Session setup/guidelines

  • Sessions start and end times will be staggered as often as possible to decrease the amount of traffic at any one time.
  • Employees will be assigned a room in which they will carry out all their sessions each week, as much as possible. At times we may need to switch rooms but will do so as little as possible.
  • Toys will be cleaned once a day. Mouth toys will be taken out of rotation until they are cleaned.
  • Children/youth are not allowed to attend sessions if they have any signs of COVID illness. BIs will call parents to come pick up their child if signs of illness appear during sessions.
  • Children/youth will be assigned to one BI when ever possible to decrease the number of people in and out of their binders.
  • Activities such as play doh, slime, sand table, rice bin, water table, cloth/plush toys, dress up cloths and all other toys that are hard to clean, etc. will no longer be allowed to be played with during this time.
  • High fives and hugs are prohibited at this time.
  • Employees will do program prep in their assigned work room. They may need to work in their assigned work room if there is not proper social distancing spacing in the lunch area/office.
  • There will be no transporting of clients at this time.

Cleaning/sanitizing procedures

In addition to regular cleaning, the following will be done daily:

  • Door handles, taps, soap dispensers, light switches, toilet handle, lunch table, photocopier buttons, phones, water cooler buttons, computers will be cleaned once a day AND disinfected once a day. Please see disinfecting instructions on the bottle of cleaner.
  • BI’s will clean the table and chairs in their assigned room after each session.
  • Face shields/safety glasses will be washed after each session if used.
  • Employees will hand wash used reusable cleaning wipes as needed to refill the container. Ensure the container is cleaned as well prior to being refilled.

Staff Illness

  • Employees will do a personal health check prior to entering the work building. They will fill out the tracking sheet before starting their shift and report either via text or verbally to their supervisor daily that they have done so.
  • If you are experiencing any signs of COVID illness you must stay home from work. If the next day you are still showing signs of illness it is recommended you get tested for covid19. Please keep the program coordinator posted on test results. Illness includes frequent sneezing, coughing, dizziness, headaches, fever, body aches, nausea, etc.
  • If you feel ill while at work, you will inform your supervisor and go home immediately. Someone else will cleaning your area.
