Welcome to River East Personal Care Home. This web site is dedicated to introducing you to our home and the services that we provide to the Elders in our care.

As a provider of long term care, we believe in setting and achieving exceptional standards of care that will maintain and enhance the quality of life enjoyed by our Elders. Our team members are committed to becoming part of your extended family and providing the feeling of a home that everyone looks for.

River East Personal Care Home is home to 120 Elders. It is located in the East Kildonan area of the City of Winnipeg. River East Personal Care Home Ltd. is privately owned and currently managed by Extendicare. River East is a one-story structure situated on 5.4 acres of land, built in 1993 and designed and decorated to feel like home from the minute you enter our front door!

Elders live within five neighbourhoods:

Faith Lane
Hope Haven
Charity Road
Serenity Cove
Courage Bay (Memory Care Neighbourhood)

Each Elder has their own large, private suite with a 2 piece en-suite bathroom. Each Elder is encouraged to bring their own furnishings and pictures to make the transition to long term care living easier, however, we do provide our own furnishings: electric bed, dresser, chair and bed side table. River East Personal Care Home provides the opportunity for Elders to continue their relationship with animals and pets with our own live in pets. Visits from family and staff pets are always welcome. We believe that our Elders deserve easy access to animal companionship 24 hours per day.

The back yard of the home features a large tented patio that is wheelchair accessible for our Elders. Bird feeders are also located in the back area to attract different birds for the Elders to watch. In addition to the large tented area, we have a gazebo that lends itself well for coffee parties, luncheons and life enrichment programs during the summer months.

Our slogan is that it is "better to live in a garden!"

R	Rachelle Walker on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They over medicate here. In regards to hydromorphone the on call nurse stated "I hand those things out like candy" when speaking about my father's medical care. We moved him at there request stating he was aggressive and that's why they medicated him so often the new place was taken aback once they weaned him off, stating he wasn't aggressive at all.

While waiting for a decision from the Manitoba Health Appeal Board regarding an excessive cost increase, River East attempted to withdraw a large sum of money from my mother's account WITHOUT informing the family or receiving our consent. Now refusing to compensate for the NSF penalty fee.

Mother inlaw was their and they mixed meds that should not be and over medicated with Oxy. I have never seen a pill pushing place like this before. then when we moved her out...because they could not handle her....they took extra funds out of her bank with out permission after she left. HORROR Show of a place. If you love your family member avoid this joint like the plague!

They are not given time to review each patients charts so if it has been noted a change a day, week or more before not all shifts are aware of it. It needs to be computerized so staff does not spend countless time going over paperwork or missing information. TIME is the problem.

S	Sandi Laurin on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We just put my father in law in about a month ago and we couldn't be more pleased with staff and the facility. He is doing better there than he was at home. The staff are extremely friendly and kind. It was a long wait to get in but so worth it.
S	Susan Harman on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rude nursing staff, when we went August 2nd,2020 for my mother's 90 birthday drive-by wishes from her friends and family. We are a family of 6 children but only 2 of us were allowed to stand in the entrance way to visit with her and we were not allowed to switch off so my other siblings could also see her close up!!! The nurse in-charge would not let my mother outside to visit untill my siblings were in their cars on the other side of the parking lots, I also was Yelled at for taking the birthday cards from the people that drove up to the entrance way wish her the best and when I asked how we were able to get the cards to her otherwise she had no answer ??!???!! She is being treated like a prisoner, not as a paying resident!!!
