Kids can watch the trains cross over the train bridge above. You can go fishing off the docks / shoreline below, and there is an area for rock-climbing as well.

I didn't realize there were places with multiple locks in a row (I've only ever seen single locks), so it was cool to see. These locks are also manually operated, so you can walk alongside and see workers rotating the levers that open the locks. There are picnic tables, washrooms, and parking available. It's a great place to bring the family for an outing!

You can also walk alongside the locks and see how the boats get from one end to the other. There are also some bathrooms on site inside one of the buildings. This would be an interesting stop for someone who has never seen locks or would like to spend some time in nature.

Getting to know the methods behind the wheel from expert who work there. The Kingston Mills area has a nice little park with tables, washrooms and a ferry ride (owned) to give you an experience of the Rideau Canal. On the other side of road you can sit an enjoy a nice barbecue, fishing experience along with a small trail to explore. Great parking space, and a good spot to spend a couple of hours in peace. Fun for kids to explore, and lucky if they get to see the train passing iver the bridge.
