Revera Marian Chateau

My mom lives at Marian Chateau in Regina and has expressed repeated concerns over the poor quality of food, lack of attention to special dietary needs, and for example, being fed a hotdog and nothing else for the evening meal. A recent meeting (mentioned in a Revera response to a review), that was held for family members with executives from Marian Chateau was very disappointing . Family members had to endure a 31 minute slow-paced, monotone presentation from the ED, which essentially was a commercial for Revera. Our cameras and microphones were blocked and so we could not see each other, or communicate until the commercial was over. During the call, I asked for the qualifications of the cook and she refused to provide that information to me. I also learned that there is no dietician on site. Regarding the picture of the "food" in a previous review, the cook had no knowledge of this being served; however, she contributes to the menu "matrix" and is responsible for the meals that are provided to the residents. Another matter that was raised was the serious issue of a recent power outage. When asked about the protocol for this, I learned that Revera addresses power outages after two hours! I also learned that the response time after the two hours may be an hour plus. This can be very dangerous for many of the residents for obvious reasons. My mom does not get value for her money at Marian Chateau and this is, in my opinion, because Revera is a for-profit company. Do your parents a favour and find a great non-profit senior's residence!

Thank you Revera for giving exceptional care to Robert and Catherine Gordon who passed away during covid. During there stay for the last five years of their life were filled with happiness and joy. The staff were always cordial and loving and all issues were handled and resolved. My mom could be trying at times and management always handled every issue with professionalism.Valid comp!aints handled promptly and with meetings with family to resolve. Meals were always enjoyed, with mom always loving the soup and the option to have meal size according to the residents request.Mom didn't like to waste. I was in the restaurant industry for years and being a chef was impressed with the quality of service and I enjoyed the food when I had dinner with mom and dad. It was like going out to a restaurant. Activities were well run and enjoyed with mom turning into an exercise fanatic.The residents and staff loved my parents and mom got to be known as Mayor of Marian Chateau. Highly recommend this residence but insist that you go and talk to management and long term residents as I did when i first toured the place. Most of the residents were happy and joyful and a few people who were miserable like in any community. Dan and Melinda Buzash

My mom moved into Marian Chateau in May 2019 and we did lots of research and homework. The meals are very important to mom and are part of the services advertised. The Bistro offered bread, cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt, milk and cream for residents who didn't want to eat breakfast in the dining room. This service is being hugely cut back, yet the residents are still technically paying for it. The meal we got on move-in day was great--roast chicken, potatoes, gravy, salad, veggies, bun, butter and dessert. That was over two years ago and this type of meal is rarely served. Residents don't always get veggies, too much fish, very little beef, cold soup etc and the portion sizes are ridiculous. They sometimes wait an hour for service in the dining room, and some people go back to their apartment with no meal. For the last ~18 months the food has been HORRIBLE. Residents get insufficient, poorly prepared, inadequate food. Numerous complaints fall on deaf ears and many residents are moving out, or want to move out. It's important to do your research before moving your mom and/or dad anywhere to live for the remainder of their lives. The cost to live at Marian Chateau in Regina SK is exorbitant and does not match the services that are being charged!
