Best Italian restaurant in Canada

L	Lola Dog on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ambiance was nice. Arugula salad with Parmesan delicious. Also had tomato’s with Buffalo mozzarella and the mozzarella was very thickly sliced, I enjoyed it my husband thought it was too thick. Veal Ravioli was ok ( it’s filling tasted very thick and powdery to me) tomato sauce was very heavy and rich. Had meatballs (very good) as well. Not sure why they serve meatballs separately from the pasta. We found it annoying to have 2 dishes, one meatballs and the other pasta…we like to have the “perfect” bite. We didn’t stay for dessert. Waiter wasn’t the best. We felt rushed and he didn’t take the time to explain the wine list or the menu. I saw other more attentive and friendly waiters. I’m not sure we would go back.

I think everyone knows the backstory of this place it was a women’s prison that was transformed into a restaurant by the famous Emma who is now the Nonna in the kitchen. A ton of celebrities go eat there on the regular whenever there’s a movie being filmed in Montreal and I’m sure they love the food just as much as I did when I went to recently and had the meatballs and everything else

You can tell that each ingredient used is top quality. The lamb and gorgonzola cheese ravioli were the stars of the show (not photographed because we dug into it immediately). Highly recommend!
