The trainer I had there was incredibly rude to myself and the other owners there. She treated us like we were complete idiots. First, this trainer threatened to kick a person and their puppy out of the class because their puppy wanted to (shockingly) play with other puppies... Then, she told me my 3 month old puppy was going to be the bad dog of the group. Later, she asked us all (rudely, as we quickly found out was her only demeanour) if she was speaking a different language because no one was doing the exercise exactly like she had. Finally, she told 2 dog owners how difficult their dogs were going to be to train because of their breed and offered no hope or positivity of how it could be done. I left feeling hopeless, helpless, and thinking that I was a bad dog owner. That is NOT how someone should leave an obedience class. To be honest, it was such a bad experience that I couldn't even muster up the courage to go back.

In the class we took they encouraged negative reinforcement (yanking on choke chains). I was surprised by this, and didn't realize it would be like that until we had already paid for the class. Maybe works for some people, but just isn't my style nor my dogs. She's a sensitive ACD and respond to this type of training at all, she shuts down and refuses to continue - and I don't blame her. We found a new place in our new city and she is excelling with the positive reinforcement training, we are both much happier.

I have trained with Regina Kennel Club before so I knew they had a more firm training philosophy. However I was absolutely appalled by how the instructor treated animals in the most recent obedience class I attended. The trainer was practically kneeing another owners dog in the face showing her how to be β€œmore aggressive” when correcting the dog. I was absolutely disgusted as the dog yelped and she continued to ram her leg into the dog’s face while doing an about-turn. This woman should not be allowed to own animals let alone train them. The worst thing was that people said this wasn’t as bad as it had been before.

I took my 4 month old dog here recently for our first ever obedience class. I was appalled at the trainer and the way she treated owners and dogs. Teaching everyone to violently yank on choke chains to submit the dog to walk properly, while parading her highly trained show dog around to show as an example. Grabbing one lady's dog by the collar and yelling at it to shut up because it was barking. I took my pup into the back to do his business and it was full of weeds and particularly fox tails. My dog is fast and grabbed a fox tail in his mouth and immediately began hacking and coughing. I ran in to ask for some water for him, the trainer had zero concern for my dog and said "you let him do that" and that the bathroom was closed due to covid. She pushed me out the door and sent me on my way with my dog in distress. Fox tails are very dangerous to dogs, and we had to take him to the vet as a result of this incident. This facility's training methods are archaic and cruel and the trainer I encountered was heartless. I DO NOT recommend this place.

We went to Regina Kennel Club and I absolutely would NOT recommend it. The female trainer was incredibly rude and unprofessional in the ways she interacted with the dogs and also how she spoke to people in the class. She used her HIGHLY trained SHOW dog as an example and constantly made us feel like garbage because our puppy wasn't as amazing as her dog was. One of our main problems was his reactivity to other dogs, he would get super excited and want to play as soon as he saw another dog. She refused to address the issue and instead told us to literally go sit in the corner with our dog so he would stop "interrupting" her class. She taught us NOTHING and got paid to do it. Plus, one night during class she "suggested" (incredibly rudely and very loudly, in front of everyone else in the group) that we stop coming because his behavior "wasn't getting any better, and probably never would." I ended up crying and leaving, we never went back and never got a refund for our unused classes.

Amazing facility! Cathie was such a fantastic trainer! My dog was very reactive to other dogs and would bark often and loud. She was incredibly patient with both of us; offering many different suggestions that were specialized to my dog and what we needed. She never ever made me feel bad for having a dog that wasn't perfect. She never dismissed us when we were struggling, and she would always stay late to answer any questions. She paid attention to each individual and their respective dogs. She always asked us for permission before handling our dogs. On the days where she brought her well trained dog for demonstration purposes she would constantly reassure not to compare our furry companions. She always said how long and hard she works with her own dogs to train them, and encouraged us to do the same. The class was reasonably priced and the facility was clean. I would definitely recommend this facility for classes!

Highly recommend! Our pup is a handful and the instructor, Cathie, was so great at helping us to train her. Cathie offered lots of great suggestions and always made us feel supported in our training journey. Classes were well structured and provided great learning for all dogs and owners each week.

We have had an amazing experience at the Regina Kennel and Obedience Club. We took our 7 month old puppy for obedience training and our instructor, Cathie, was nothing short of amazing. She never made me feel bad about my dog not being perfectly behaved and was always very patient with everyone in the class. We did a six week class and I was always happy to see that when people would show up early with questions about their week Cathie would be there answering questions and giving tips on how to improve. Cathie would also stay late after class and help with anything that I wasn’t totally sure of from the class or anything I needed additional explanation about. One thing I really liked about the class was how Cathie would tailor each dogs experience. The dogs in our class were all so different and Cathie would make sure that each dog got the instruction that it needed. She did not use a β€œone size fits all” approach to the class, if she suggested something that was not working for my dog she would come over right away and give another different method to try. I will be recommending this club and this instructor to my friends.
