★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This crossing is known as the "Red Bridge" named after the 1926 Bridge that was here that was originally painted red. This was at a time when this stretch of Pitt River road was the original highway now replaced by Lougheed Hwy. A motor vehicle accident damaged the original which was replaced by a armed forces Bailey bridge that was meant to be temporary. It was in use for years even being damaged itself by storm water. The name refers to the crossing more than the bridge. It was known in the past for decades as the Red Bridge.
