About Red Barn Family Restaurant & Dano's Lounge
The Red Barn Restaurant was started in 1986 by Karmen & Jim Davidson. It started out as a 26 seat restaurant that served burgers and ice cream and also had a couple video games. The restaurant was seasonal and closed for the winter months. A few years after opening Karmen & Jim expanded and turned it into a 12 month business. At this time is when Karmen developed our famous Broasted Chicken and Smoked Ribs at the same time as tripling their seating capacity. After a few more years of growth, the Davidson’s decided it was time for another expansion and added on a new kitchen as well as adding on at the front of the building giving us 110 seats.
In 2003 Karmen & Jim decided it was time to retire and sold the restaurant to their son, Dan and his wife Terrie. Dan ran the same business for the next few years and saw some good growth at the same time having to deal with the highway relocation. Dan had made the decision to build a new restaurant in 2007 on Moosomin’s main access off the new highway. This decision paid off and the business saw great growth. Since 2003 the business volume has grown 5 fold due to the business’s great dedicated team that includes a lot of long term employees. To this day our Broasted Chicken, in-house made hamburgers and smoked ribs are an everyday favourite of our many loyal customers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Staff was friendly and service was quick. Clean, cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The menu had several delicious looking items we will have to go back and try. We enjoyed the Dirty Fries with a spicy chili, bacon, green onion and sour cream topping. The pizza was great and the pasta dishes were tasty. Conveniently located near 3 hotels just off the Trans-Canada Highway in Moosomin.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm not an overly big fan of this location. Yes it's nice to have a city feel in a small town, however it is an expensive establishment for what you get. Food and menu are pretty blah, with the exception of their pizzas which are very good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ During a transCanada road trip we dropped in for dinner at the Red Barn. It's nicer outside than inside, where everything looks so bland it was such a disappointment. But our server was great.. then the food took absolutely ages and eventually came after more than 20 minutes. It was well prepped and cooked.. I recommend the fried chicken and maple poutine.
But oh it was just drenched in Salt. How very disappointing!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In the small town of Moosomin, Saskatchewan along the Trans Canada Highway is a wonderful gem of a restaurant called Red Barn. The atmosphere is down home and wholesome, the service is friendly and efficient, and the Broasted Chicken Dinner is the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned and crispy on the outside while maintaining the tenderness and juicy chicken inside. If you're passing through stop here, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Right off the TransCanada hwy. Easy to find, it's a red barn. Servers were very cheery and bright. Good food. I had my first real green vegetable ,broccoli, on my baked potato, since we left Vancouver 5 days ago! Everything comes with BACON, I've found, in the prairies. Or sour cream. As a vegan, I suggest bringing your own food supplies if crossing Canada!
