Joel is a thief and a liar. Don't work with him.

Was advertised as being open on Sundays but closed when we arrived. Came all the way from Grimsby.

This is a wonderful company that employs real artisan stone masons. They left my house today after a week and created a new 20 x 11 ft flagstone patio with a handicap ramp. The job is beautiful and would never deal with any landscape company or other patio people without calling Joel first!

After building our dream home in 2018 we needed to decide on what to do for a front of the home porch, patio, and steps. We saw some work done in our neighborhood by PW Stone and thought it would be the finishing detail for our home. Well...was I ever wrong! Joel the owner of PW stone came in a timely manner to give us a quote on what we wanted and was willing to begin the work on June 27 2019. His three man crew came to start. They seemed to be quite efficient and got the work completed quickly. We chose flagstone and discussed the color choices. We made it very clear to Joel that we did not want anything with brown or taupe. We specifically said we wanted Grey tones. Joel did say it would change over time to a “beautiful color.” When it was installed the stones were multicoloured between light and dark and everything in between. Admittedly it looked quite complimentary to our our newly built grey home which is on his Facebook page. After approximately 6 months the porch, steps and patio have changed to a very milky dull whitish yellowish color. There is no hint of grey or striking multi-colors. It’s dull, flat and It’s blah. I can’t stand it, I detest it with a passion! What a colossal waste of a whole lot of money! We also have a problem with one of the large flagstones. It has completely lifted from the base. We can literally pick it up. The surrounding grout has cracked as well. On May 7th, twelve days ago I called the office and spoke to a lady and explained to her our situation. She said she would let Joel know and he would call me back. Joel gave me his business card with his cell number when we hired him. However I thought I’d call the office first to see if Joel was available there. He was out on the road. I asked the lady in the office if I could call Joel to speak to him and she said “yes and I’ll pass the message onto him”. I called Joel’s cell phone. He answered and was quite perturbed that I called him on his cell. After letting him know why I was calling I was told to call the office and go through the proper channels. I was annoyed with his attitude because he is the owner and is the only person we had ever dealt with so I was at a loss as to where else to go with this. After finishing that short and curt conversation with Joel I texted him photos of the lifted flagstone only to get a reply of “thank you”. To this date twelve days later, there has been no communication from either Joel or any of his staff members as to when the repair of the flagstone will be taking place. We understand in construction things can and do go wrong with projects. However after spending a lot of money on the front of our home one has the expectation that the problem would be acknowledged with assurances that necessary repairs would be addressed quickly. In this time of the global pandemic he would have plenty of time to acknowledge repairs. I’m almost sure he is not swamped with work. I am quite disappointed and do not recommend this company.

I would not recommend this company and if you are thinking about going with them, i would encourage and recommend to ask a lot of questions regarding after sales support. We invested in PW stone for a $15k job and they did a flagstone walk way up to our house and re- face old stairs and porch. First two years, looked great, after year two, grout between flag stone started chipping away and breaking and then after 4 years, the flagstone started lifting, which caused a rippling effect, where more loosened. When i called Joel for help, he was far to quick to reply that he didn't service my area ( Mississauga) any more and for me to go to Kijiji for help! So disapointing! Be ware and avoid!

Joel and his team did a great job on our walkway and we were very happy with the end result!

Joel is high skilled in Flagstone. The whole experience was amazing as he made sure the job was done right from start to finish. I highly recommend PW Stone If you are in the Hamilton or Niagara Region looking for quality Flagstone work done.
