AWASIS Program - "Awasis" means child in the Cree Language. The Awasis Program is the Edmonton Public School Board elementary program which provides students with Cree Language instruction and cultural teachings and activities.
Cree Language and cultural activities include: Cree Language curriculum of study, daily Cree prayer, seasonal Feasts, Pipe Ceremonies, Smudge, Awasis Day celebration, music study which integrates song and drumming, Traditional and Pow Wow dance, Metis jigging at Guitar and Fiddle, field trips to cultural sites, and the annual Indigenous Language and Culture Quiz.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I think this a great school for first nations/-aboriginal or Matis kids..it's a place where they feel accepted and not ridiculed for thier heritage is what I dealt with as a kid when I went 2 Lauderdale elemenrty school for grade 5 and 6...It's a great place 2 learn about your culture and learn how 2 speak Cree instead of French...plus the teachers were always friendly and helpful except the school was rather small especially the gym but they do have a big field plus they pick up and drop of the kids everyday and they have snack and lunch provided everyday which is a bonus...amiskwaciy is the next best

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've recently just graduated from this school and I must say this school is amazing I've been here since kindergarten and it's been so awesome the only downside is some of the kids are a little mean but hang out with the right crowds the mental health services are so amazing I have worked with Asia and she is the nicest and most understanding person ever and the teachers are so amazing and the friends I have made are great people and the principal mrs Toews is so nice :) and I really appreciate that instead of French they teach cree which is so cool I most definitely recommend this school for anyone who might be thinking about sending their kids here

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our mornings are better despite having to wake up an hour earlier. My daughter is so happy here and enjoys going . She loves her. Teacher already . I believe this is the only school with a cree program. The staff don't make you feel intimidated. All around comfortable environment and friendly staff. I love it. Keep up the amazing work prince Charles school.
