The city of Vancouver replaced an aging play area with a place my granddaughter loves. It great for younger children.

Updated playground: Honestly I could tell it was going to be disappointment by the early display of this playground. I know that wood playgrounds tend to get slippery when wet but this feels like a large downgrade in terms of play area. So they did add one more infant swing making it two but the chains on all the swings are practically halfed, not so fun for adults too swing but with kids it is safer (easier to stop). So not too bad, it's for them. They added two rocking seats for kids, one a standard sit-in type, the other one is this weird maybe for handicap type of rocking seat but honestly I could see an irresponsible supervisor putting a kid inside and launching them out of it. It's literally a 'ç' with no restraints and flat seat. I also wish they put in the effort to flatten out the open grass area so that kids would be able to play ball in a place that didn't work against them. I know that there's plenty of areas like that here but they're up the hill and people midhill deserve at least one flat ball play area. They did add good seating for adults though. Two benches on either side and pathways for handicap, stollers or wheeled people to get in. They also redid the flooring with wood chips instead of gravel and lined the park area with fresh wood planks and logs. The playground itself is a fairly minimal one medium-small sized: slide, rock wall, rope ladder. Small dual slide with play binoculars. I don't really see what about the old playground needed to be changed into this as say a game of tag or any other make believe game feels like it has less possibilities on this setup. None of this feels like if a kid wanted to push their boundaries in a safe area they could, making them do so in a less safe area. Maybe I was different as a kid but I would feel disappointed to go from the old one to this one. Old playground: Surprisingly a very good park. It's one of the only parks in the area that has an infant swing (only one). There's a separate toddler playground as well as an early kids playground and a medium sized open area it's not flat so any ball game will have to deal with slanted ground but still surprisingly good
