★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've rented from them and I told them prior all the issues I had with their associates vehicle in Whitby. They said not to worry because most of their flet are new ones. Yes it was true, the truck I was given had hardly 2000km's on it. If I recall right, it was a 26' in lenght, no space above the cab so I had plenty of square footage to load up. I like their truck because of the hydraulic lift, makes it so much more practical when loading things that are few hundreds pounds. I will definitely rent at this location if I need again in the future. Customer service was great compared to the previous.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The worst truck rental place I can imagine. I rent trucks often for work. It starts when we go through all this to waive insurance as my company has insurance. they say it is fine, but when the bill comes I was billed over $1000. Then they say that we put fuel in the DEF, simply not possible. My drivers are all pros and experienced with the DEF system. Next they try to bill us for a window scratch that was already there. It was marked on some paperwork, but not others. they are blacklisted across the country from this experience. Just trying to explain anything or reason with them was impossible. Not to mention the truck that caused all this aggravation was a real POS, looked like it was 20 years old.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unfortunate event - this is actually my first negative review.
Long story short:
-I reserved a 16ft truck
-received a call that it may not be available
-received another call the day before my moving day that only the 26ft truck is available, which will not work as it is too large (will not fit in my driveway and unable to drive in downtown Toronto due to its size)
-I had to cancel the day before my moving day and find a 16ft truck with another company
-2 stars for good customer service on the phone and offering a discounted rate

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rented a truck from Penske and they were very nice. Unfortunately the truck we rented broke down three times and I was unable to complete the job. Lost the contract and am unable to pay my bills because I rented a truck from Penske. I would have been better off smashing my face on a cinderblock then picking up the phone to call Penske to ruin my life. Thanks guys for all your "help" resolving this issue.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very happy with Penske. We rent some trailers from them long term as well as big and small trucks from time to time. Whenever we have any issues with billing or whatever (Hey, it happens), Penske has been quick to rectify them. When our trailer had a flat tire they got the emergency tech out to do the repair and get us back on the road in just an hour or two, and we never had to waste hours of time sitting on hold or haggling to get things taken care of.
Penske's not as popular as Ryder in Canada, and their prices look higher up front, but when you actually look at the real costs long term and the higher standards of service both mechanical and office-wise, switching to Penske was a really good choice. My review might sound like an advertisement but I'm happy to back up a company that takes pride in its work and does its best for its customers. It is a rare thing in this industry.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Location I made the booking with closed down, but no one let me know until I called to confirm the reservation a week before the pickup date and was told I would have to pick up the truck at a location further away and no accommodation could be made to allow me to pick up a truck at any other more convenient location, nor could I drop it off at a more convenient location. That's what I get for giving Penske a chance; back to uhaul for my future rentals, at least they're cheaper.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This location is the absolute worst! They are attempting to defraud me by charging fuel which I did not use. I rented a 16foot truck on a Saturday drove it for a total of 27km and returned it the next day completely full. I received their invoice the next day on Monday and it showed that I returned the truck completely full only driving 27km. Two days later I get billed $91 saying that I used 30litres of fuel? How does this make any sense? I called their office and was treated completely rude by their sales rep who was unable and unwilling to give an explanation as to how they came up with the fuel charge. I also tried speaking with the branch manager Julie (she is a work of art and hung up on me during my attempt to get an answer) who provide NO HELP.
I have also called their head office in an attempt to get an explanation but I was told "they cannot overturn charges as they are in the America and all customer complaints has to be dealt with by the local branch you rented from". To my question; how do I deal with a branch that is trying to put fraudulent charges against me?
The previous year I also rented a 16 foot truck and drove it 25km returned it and was never charge for any fuel use as I also returned it full. So what was the difference between the first rental and the second, why the $91 fuel charge? I still have no answers.
