That former employee's comment is obiviously bogus to damage PCLs name. They are so great there. Say hi to Chris at the front desk.

Horrible company that treats their management employees, tradesmen and subcontractors like garbage. They are often called People Come Last by employees or Profit Comes Last by subcontractors

Terrible company to work for. Bullying is rife within this organization. Avoid working there. Heed the other negative comments. They are the most honest of the comments listed.

My review as a former salaried management employee. Anyone thinking about working for them needs to read this. Pros: Having PCL on your resume when you go and look for another job Cons: I worked in management for this company and left a long term government job to start with PCL. They are a tough company and don't pay very well, but they promised the moon, pay raises, advancement, etc, etc. They expect you to work 10+ hour days and constantly load you with heavy work loads. When it came time for a pay raise, they gave me a token amount which was a joke and the advancements never came, they just kept holding out the carrot for you to keep running after. The Christmas bonuses are a joke. Its often said PCL means "People Come Last" and I would definitely agree with that statement. They really don't care how they treat people since they are Canada's largest contractor, people will always want to work for them. After the second project I worked on came to a close I was laid off and I never looked back. Would I ever work there again? NO! Am I bitter, absolutely not, PCL taught me many things which I still feel were excellent in my future career. I would just caution any person taking a job there to get the employment conditions in writing that were discussed in your interview. If they don`t provide it in writing, send them a letter outlining the discussions. They have no issues with blatant lying They talk a good game, but run away I was lucky enough to find another job in the few weeks they gave me notice. I got a 20% raise at my next job which goes to show you how underpaid PCL workers are. I will also add that I left this review on another site and they asked me to write to them to discuss. I sent them a polite email to discuss to their requested address and never heard back from them. I followed up with a second email and again no reply. THIS JUST CONFIRMS THEY DON'T GIVE ONE IOTA ABOUT THEIR MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES, HOW DO YOU THINK THEY FEEL ABOUT THEIR TRADESMEN AND WOMEN. I've been in construction for 20 years and I keep hearing the same stories over and over similar to mine. Its a revolving door at PCL

Why I left after 13 + years of experience with the company. Clients you will be sold a project with 20% savings but really paying 120% compared to market value. Employees The company/managment is no longer what it once was and you may just waste your future working here. - You will be paid 20-30% of what they charge you out at. try asking for 50% - Your career performance depends on your manager not you. - Your skills don't matter . - I have seen 20+ year veterans pushed out the door or laid off. - Shares will be restricted when they see fit. - Shares offers no longer worth the 5 years it takes to pay off. - you have an 80% chance of spending years in a administrative position not really learning just serving the machine while your skills set becomes less relevant and managment gets massive bonus. - My last year bonus was 5 times less my second year of service. - Favoritism is at every corner. - You could spend 6 years on a mega project with little new experience to other projects. - The 13 page career review that you spent 2hrs completing is just a front. HR is just the hand of managment , your screwed bud.
