They feed you after services. Best hangouts after the sermons. Edit 3 years later: I have decided to leave the church. I think the community itself is the main draw. There are quality persons in this church, people who are very intentional, unprententious, and are real human beings. The music is a blast with a true unique talent leading worship, and just for that you may want to visit. My decision however is based upon my correspondence, or rather lack thereof with the Pastor, Mark Carroll, and what I consider a fundamental betrayal to both myself and his profession. I will detail this below: Pastor Mark understands that I have struggled with getting my life in order. This includes really struggling with homelessness and being jobless, particularly during the pandemic. This year, I made a monumental effort to change this, to turn my life around, and chose to apply to various Bible Camps, something I have a lot of experience with. What is required to do this for any camp though, is a Pastoral Reference, which after 3 years, I hoped I could rely on Mark to do this. I had emailed Mark dozens of times, and NOT ONCE did he return my correspondence. I could spend 4 hours applying to one camp, and it is worth nothing without the pastoral reference! I eventually asked a friend and former employee what was going on, and she got on his case. He promised her, that he would complete the references, but curiously still refused to have any correspondence with me and dragged his feet in doing so, even though I made it clear that I had a small window of opportunity to get it submitted. I emailed him, over and over again asking if he got it done, and he NEVER replied. My efforts were completely sabotaged as it turns out that he just plainly lied about doing them, and even if he filled out one or two, it was not on my behalf but clearly on my friends, because it was weeks after I had initially asked, and only after she said something. And even so; I discovered later that the ones he promised her that he would do, was plainly not done. Call it incompetence or call it malevolence; This is unbecoming of a Pastor. For those who are in need, who are trying to turn their lives around, get connected with God, to start a normative and productive existence from the dreggs of society, he was intentionally absent for what I can only assume to be his personal misgivings towards me. And for that, just let me say, that it wouldnt even bother me if any pastor simply disliked me, or did not want to put in the effort. Honesty is a virtue. Mark Carroll however is not fundamentally honest, because he is not forthright. It was suggested to me that perhaps he did not do this was because I had not been attending virtual church, which was true, however how is one living on the dreggs of society, without internet nor electricity, supposed to tune into a sermon? And if it were the case, why not just say something? Mark has his qualities, and there are some things that he has done well, such as being a very easy person to like, fairly relateable, and get along with. He also has a wonderful family and has done well in that regard too. While I may have disagreed with him in the past, I was always loyal, and understood that leadership is burdening the responsibility and to be always mindful of that. But a person's true beliefs are dictated by how they act, and contrary to what he may say, he acted as if he did not give a damn, which is unfortunate.

My children and I have been attending Parkland for around 5 months now. This church is the friendliest most laid back church you could hope to find. From the minute you walk in and are greeted with warm smiles and friendly hello's, until after the service when you have the opportunity to sit and have lunch together, you feel like part of the family. The pastor and his wife are the most genuine caring people and would do anything for their church community. I am so thankful to have found Parkland to be our church home :-)

Been a member of Parkland for a few years now. There are a few main things that I absolutely love about this church. One is the community, as others have stated. I felt so welcomed and at home my first Sunday. And even though it was intended to be a one time visit, the community is what kept me coming back. The second major point is sound theology with very clear and relevant preaching. My wife and I joined at a time when the church was between pastors and we are so glad that Pastor Mark and his family joined a number of years ago. He has really brought direction and vision to our church and how we are uniquely equipped to serve God's kingdom. Lastly, being able to serve in church in various ways is such a rewarding experience. My time volunteering on the leadership team really allowed me to see the heart and intention of those working behind the scenes, and my experience as a musician continues to be a wonderful way to use the gifts God has given me.
