I am proud to say I was born and raised right here in Calgary by an immigrant family, where we spoke Cantonese at home. After dental school, I continued to learn from a variety of well respected medical and dental specialists through a hospital dental residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Working with patients experiencing stressful and often traumatic situations improved my ability to stay calm, establish relationships and explain what’s happening in an easy to understand way. I returned home to practice general dentistry in NE Calgary before heading back to Toronto for my speciality training in Periodontics. During my 3 year program, I received formal training in placing implants, a skill supported by my experiences with precision surgeries. Afterwards, I returned to Calgary once again to start my own practice, as I wanted to serve the community I grew up in. In my spare time, I like to play hockey, golf and go hiking.
I received my high school diploma from Sir Winston Churchill, my Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from the University of Alberta and my Master of Science (Periodontics) degree from the University of Toronto. I am a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went to Dr. Chung for my gums back in March--so this is a long awaited review that I should really have done a while back-sorry, been really busy. I was really late for his appt. as I got seriously lost. He was very patient and kind about the whole situtation with me getting lost and with my gum issue when I finally did arrive. He was supposed to leave as it was after hours as well but he took the time to make sure that all my questions and concerns were addressed---very calm and cool person. If I need help with my gums I woud go back to him for sure!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing!! I went into Dr. Chung's office having no idea how bad my receeding gum was. When I was examining I was told that I could possibly lose one of my front teeth .I was devastated. But Dr. Chung got my in for surgery within five days and did an outstanding job. He was sensitive to how afraid I was and was super gentle during surgery, reassuring me the whole time. The surgery was pretty painless (and I'm a baby), at the end he told me it went better than he expected and had high hopes for my tooth .the recovery wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It wasn't fun but it was better than getting your wisdom teeth out. Dr. Chung emailed me during my recovery to make sure everything was okay. Then he saw me a week later and told me that I was recocrecov better than he could have imagined!! I can't believe how much better my tooth looks and I get to keep it! I couldn't be happier with this outcome and I will recommend Dr. Chung to anyone who needs to have receeding gums repaired. He did an amazing job!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having many implants and dental surgeries I can judge professionalism of different dental doctors. Dr. Chung is exceptionally good Doctor-Periodontist and my surgery with him started with pain killer shots, which I did even feel how he made it. Surgery went smoothly and with a detailed explanation of what had been done. Follow up was great and now days not many doctors offer this but Doctor Chung does.
Strongly recommended to have dental procedures with Doctor Chung to my family and friends.

He was gentle throughout the process (didn’t even feel a thing) and reassured me that the procedure was nothing to be afraid of when I developed anxiety before the procedure (I mean getting your gums cut open is very unpleasant). He answered all my questions and even followed up with me during my recovery period. I am happy with the results and would 100% recommend Dr. Chung for gum graft surgery!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I saw Dr. Chung for the first time in March 2020 as a consult. Due to Covid, I couldn't see him again for my oral surgery until July. Dr. Chung is super warm, patient, and thorough. His bedside patient care is superior. He takes the time to answer questions and you never feel rushed or brushed off. I had to have two gum graftings, today was my second and he does the most clean, precise work. He makes sure you are always comfortable checking in regularly during the surgery. His assistant Emma is always pleasant and professional. I have asked these two so many questions and I never feel like I am a nuisance or in their way. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Chung and Emma for your Periodontal needs. They are superb!
