We haven't rowed there, but we have taken people down to see the sunset by the water, and that is always nice!

Canada's oldest rowing club. Founded in 1867 so that Sir John A. McDonald (Canada's first Prime Minister) and friends could enjoy a legal drink after a hard day of Prime Ministering since alcohol could only be served in private clubs. And probably for rowing too. My son learned to row here in highschool. Sun, water, and the thrill of precariously navigating at great speed with a team of eight in a club with history, tradition, and location location location. Thanks to the Ottawa Rowing Club for allowing Ottawa highschool students to experience this. He also got married here. The banquet hall in the original clubhouse is available to the public for rentals. Incomparably beautiful, overlooking the water, startlingly located (nothing this beautiful should be hidden away in the heart of a Canadian city). Just waiting for somebody like you to create an extraordinary occasion! Check it out.

A true hidden gem in Ottawa. Stunning westward views of the Parliament buildings and the Museum of Canadian History. One of the prettiest places in the city to catch a sunrise or sunset.

I took a "learn to row" course there in the summer of 2021. Six, two hour lessons in two weeks. The instructors were passionate about teaching a sport that they love, and our group had a lot of fun together. We had to row individually due to COVID restrictions, but usually we would have rowed together from what I was told. The course fee was reasonable. But for insurance purposes, one had to also pay a one time annual fee to the Ontario Rowing Association. Perhaps $50? This made the two week class more expensive.
