K	Kristen McLean on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such an amazing league! I was new to Ottawa and met so many great friends in this league. The mixed sports games are so fun. There are so many different sports (and Joel is always adding new sports) and everyone is super chill and friendly. I actually look forward to Monday's now :) I highly recommend Ottawa Rec Sports to anyone in Ottawa looking to get some exercise, have fun and meet new people in the city.
K	Katharine Ferri on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've played in several Ottawa sports leagues, and this one is by far the friendliest and most community-oriented. It's extremely well-managed. The Commissioner, Joel, puts a lot of focus on ensuring teams are placed at the appropriate skill level to encourage fair play and a collegial environment. It's obvious that Joel cares about his players and refs and has shown that he is attentive and responsive when a concern is raised. There are safety protocols in place, and ice packs are always at the ready when needed (as a clumsy person, I should know). It's also the only league I know of that does beer trophies! Worth checking out and I highly recommend.

Ive been in the league for years and have got to know various teams and the league's coordinator/owner, Joel. He is a great guy who is accomodating and offers a variety of sports leagues through the winter/summer. He also organizes the best end of season parties with plenty of prizes to go around. I highly recommend this league. Great for athletes of all levels!

I'm on a team that has been playing in this league for almost 10 years and have nothing but positive things to say about it. Joel, the owner, is a great organizer and ensures good sportsmanship in all games. All games are reffed and fairly adjudicated. I would totally recommend this league to anyone looking to play rec soccer in Ottawa.

So there's a really friendly atmosphere and I've met tons of great people. The owner, Joel, is super accessible and really promotes a positive atmosphere among all the teams.

Joel (the organizer) is extremely personable, and it's obvious that he wants his players to have a great time in a safe environment. I'm very surprised that there are any poor reviews at all. I've been playing in the league for several years, and although I have witnessed the occasional player become too competitive or unreasonably upset, management and the refs have always been quick to diffuse the situation, which makes me wonder if those reviews are based on a very specific incident.

There are multiple divisions for soccer and also different types of sports to play (I definitely recommend Multi-Sport Mondays). The competition level is definitely good. With a range of divisions it allows the upper rec players an outlet for a competitive game, with consistently good reffing, on proper fields. Joel is an excellent league owner, always willing to assist or accommodate teams if possible. He is the kind of guy to give you the shirt off his back so he is the kind of person I would want to support when I get to play my sports. Also, even if you hate sports, the end of year party is excellent. Each season finishes with a party where all teams mingle and Joel provides plenty of gift cards for the restaurant you're at. A great league, could not recommend it enough. Cant wait to get back to it when safe to do so! Thanks Joel

I really appreciate that Joel takes the time to get to know teams and place them in a division that’s appropriate for their skill level. Through getting to know the organizers, refs, and returning teams, it also creates a strong sense of community. It’s competitive, but there’s an emphasis on sportsmanship and respect. Overall, I’d recommend this league to anyone.
