Delicious, interesting recipes, fresh ingredients, originally and beautifully presented with attentive and friendly service. Tasty dinner starting with mushroom soup (whipped and creamy, generous portion, served perfectly heated along with warm, crusty yet soft bread by Bad Dog Bakery) and crab cake (hot, crisp, crabby without being bready) served with greens and a surprising chartreuse lightly spicy aioli. Our entrees were equally generous in portion, exceptional in flavour and perfect in temperature. Wild boar pasta--wow! Pisaladierre (onion, olive and anchovie tart) served with a gorgeous simple salad. We will definitely return. Recommended! Hoping to witness the atmosphere uplifted with improved lighting and an entryway to mitigate the cold draft from outside. Still, we love the family/homey/caring/simple feel of the place.

Pasta so heavenly it would terrify Lucifer! I (and my taste buds) enjoyed the seafood pasta. Friday nights fill up - so reservation recommended.

My new favorite north shore restaurant! The food is exceptional but beyond that is the experience! Almost from the moment We walked in it felt like somewhere between Provence and Lyon…not knowing it was a French restaurant felt odd but as soon as we heard the kitchen staff speaking and tasted the bread with olive tapenade we were home and everything made sense. Can’t wait to go back to try the rest of the regular menu! PS. Farm to table perfection! Other restaurants compromise for this, Orto does it true French style as if they returned that day from a local market. Bravo ?

The definition of a hidden gem! Great atmosphere, the team makes you feel right at home, expansive selection of wines and cocktails and the food is absolutely delicious! We were greeted so warmly by the owner Brigitte continued to check in on all her guests. Try the mussels and the bad dog bread plate to start and we had the mushroom gnocchi and bolognese as mains which were balanced perfectly, generous portions and came out quickly even though it was a packed dinner service. This was one of the most pleasant dining experiences I have had in the city and is a must visit. We will certainly be back. Highly recommend!

I like that they have a small menu and foods were served quickly. The bad dog bread was too cold while the butter was too hard so I didn’t like it. Pastas were good, the prawns tasted very fresh. The chocolate mousse wasn’t so great. The servers are nice however they have an open kitchen and the cooks didn’t wear their masks properly. The shorter cook had his mask not cover his mouth and nose at all time while the taller cook had it on and off. There was an old man appeared to be the kitchen helper who didn’t even have a mask. I feel very uncomfortable seeing that. Hopefully the restaurant take Covid protocol more seriously

Montecristo Magazine wrote that host Brigitte Raye "made a name for herself with front-of-house prowess, gracefully turning hospitality into an art form." It is an accurate comment. We first encountered Ms. Raye years ago at La Regalade, her family's French bistro in West Vancouver. It is closed, but for many, not forgotten. Specializing in pasta dishes, Orto is inspired by Italian food styles but I think it is most particularly influenced by fresh produce from some of the finest growers available. In season, herbs and vegetables may come from the restaurant's attached garden. Food at Orto will be superb on any day but keep an eye on their website and watch for special events, like La Regalade nights where the Chefs recall French favourites from that highly regarded bistro. Of course, Ms. Raye will be present to ensure everything is near perfect.

Lunch with SO - we both love this place. Been here for dinner a number of times and it has never disappointed. Delicious food. For lunch my pasta was amazing. Will definitely come again. Very happy we have this little gem on the North Shore.

If you enjoy tasty food, Orto is the place. My friend introduce me to this place. For lunch, we had the tasty trio (cup of carrot soup, greens and Β½ sandwich) and smoke salmon and chive omelet with salad and Bad dog bread. Everything was fresh, flavourful and tasty including the homemade bread. We splurged and shared the tiramisu for dessert. Just right & not too sweet. They have breads and soups along with appetizers, pasta, & omelets for lunch. They even offered a 3 course lunch special. Service was prompt and friendly. Nice ambiance. Parking can be a challenge but it’s worth it. Definitely a hidden gem in North Vancouver. They’re near where Indigo books was. Can’t wait to dine at their outdoor patio when the weather warms up. Note they are closed Sunday to Tuesday. They accept lunch and dinner reservations.
