However, thanks to Vick at Onyx, he helped us through the situation and was very professional the whole way through. However, Vick and his team managed to get much more as they worked diligently and had the best estimates prepared. The Home Insurance Adjuster sent a contractor to quote the repairs for the damage, but weeks went by after the quote was completed & we did not hear anything after. We left multiple messages for the Home Insurance Adjuster, and any time she replied, it was just to tell us she would review the quote & get back to us in a few days, but she kept "forgetting" to call us. After a month and a half, we finally received an approved quote for repairs, but it was very low (during the time we were waiting, we had other contractors give us quotes on the basement). We didn't know what to do, as it was the first time we were going thru a home insurance claim, and wasn't sure if we had to just accept what was offered, or if we had the right to request a second opinion. Luckily, we came across Onyx Adjusting! We requested a free consultation & Vick replied the next day. He scheduled a visit to our home that same week & brought a contractor with him to assess the damages. He believed the insurance company was taking advantage of us & decided to take on our case. The next week, with just a simple email exchange between Vick & the Home Insurance Adjuster, the insurance company increased our offer by 38%! Even then, Vick knew they were still under-quoting the repairs needed. After some more negotiation, we ended up settling with the insurance company for double the initial offer!!!
