Pharmacists need a voice to advocate on their behalf as OPA has failed to do so.

The profession of pharmacy in Ontario has never been in such disarray courtesy of the government and the lack of action by our β€œAdvocacy” body the OPA. This is my first year not a member. I could not in good conscience throw away my hard earned money to an organization that will not stand up for the very profession they are supposed to protect. The gym discount was the only benefit I saw to being apart of the OPA. Please re-structure and advocate for the profession and I will return.

I have been a member for 46 years. For last 25 years OPA has done nothing for me nor the profession as I see it. The reason for cancelling my membership are too many to list.

When I was a student and when OPA was the only thing I knew, I thought they were a great association. Unfortunately, as the years went by, my trust in them has receded greatly, leading me to leave for good. OPA: I'd really like to know who you are supporting: overworked pharmacists or greedy corporations? It seems your recent lobbying efforts have been for big companies like Shoppers Drug Mart. When the majority of pharmacists have been against symptomatic testing, you marketed it like we had a choice. But when a fellow pharmacist quit his job over sustained pressure to test despite him knowing it was unsafe, you went radio silent. Where was the choice in that? Perhaps if you'd actually supported interns except of calling them "hot commodities" when they couldn't write their licencing exams and continued to work at a $18 wage doing pharmacist work.... Perhaps if actually employed pharmacists to make decisions (understandably that's through vote)... Perhaps if you went back to your roots of advocating for pharmacists.... you'd have my support.
